A spoof of the film The Bride of Frankenstein and the monster movie genre.
This isn't a review; this is a remembrance of the most special night of my Broadway-loving life.
A few days ago, I was twittering about opening nights on Broadway. There were several coming up, and I was dreaming of what it must be like to attend. I asked my friends on Twitter to send me descriptions of the parties they'd attended. as well as the performances they had seen, on opening nights. And even within their 140-character responses, I got a pretty good idea of how magnificent and glamorous these A-list events could be.
The trouble all started when Jule Styne composed a score for Funny Girl that Fanny Brice could not possibly have sung.

The Best Of The Performing Arts Close To Home Brings You A GREAT VARIETY OF ENTERTAINMENT IS COMING YOUR WAY
Chills. I got chills! When Sara Sheperd as Fanny Brice let loose the other night with her remarkable voice at the end of those legendary Brice/Barbra standards "I'm The Greatest Star," "Don't Rain On My Parade" and (even) "The Music That Makes Me Dance" .....
Sometimes, Christmas vacations come at a terribly inconvenient time. For a personal example, I left New York for the holidays just as Prospect Theater Company's newest musical, Evergreen, debuted. As such, I only got to attend the show on the day it closed. This is somewhat of a tragedy, because given the opportunity, I would have returned several times and encouraged the rest of New York to do the same.
The fall temperatures may be getting colder, but the DC area theatre scene is heating up with many musicals, including a new "intimate" production of a 1927 American classic, a Tony-Award Winning family saga, and so many choices - well - take a look for yourself at what this diverse theatre community has to offer in November. This is a great time to celebrate the upcoming holidays with your family, so bring the kids, grandparents, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins to see that Orphan girl and her dog, a Disney heroine, and enjoy an early Christmas, and many more shows to bring in the cheer and joy of the holiday season. We have so much to be thankful for this month, so come to our nation's capital and celebrate the joy of theatre with us!
While riding the uptown Broadway local train from Times Square around 1am on Saturday night after enjoying post-A Man For All Seasons cocktails with my Tudor-geek friend who vigorously detailed all the play's historical inaccuracies for me (more on that one later in the week) I found myself in a car nearby a group of adolescents having a loud and just as vigorous discussion about how all boys were dogs.
Eighty is Not Enough, the first memoir by former Eight Is Enough star Dick Van Patten, is more than the autobiography of one actor - it is a look at 80 years of American entertainment history through the eyes of an actor who has experienced it all. Phoenix Books publishes in November.

The Fall theatre season in the DC area is in full bloom. As the leaves are turning, there is a colorful group of shows opening this month. There are so many, so where do I begin? Here are shows that I am looking forward to seeing, and remember I am a musical theatre lover who likes to sprinkle in a play or two - here and there - so don't get mad if I don't choose one of the plays you are looking forward to seeing. You have your chance at the end of this article to share your 'must sees' also with our readers. Hopefully, you'll make the trip down to the DC area to see some of these wonderful productions.

There is one theatre in NYC where it's okay not to worry about dust. The show is written by Billy Goda and directed by Scott Zigler with a cast that also features Laura E. Campbell, Curtis McClarin and John Schiappa.

If Tracie Thoms' life was written as an old fashioned Broadway musical it would go something like this, 'Girl wants role, girl doesn't get role, girl REALLY wants role, girl finally gets role and then girl REALLY gets role…again.' Sound complicated? Not so much. BroadwayWorld caught up with her and we spoke at length about her thrilling and inspiring 'Quest for Joanne'.
