Tonight, the company of Aladdin on Broadway took a moment at their curtain call to remember comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried, whom Disney fans fondly remember as the voice of Jafar's sidekick, Iago, in the animated film.

Michael James Scott (Genie) surprised a lucky guest – the 888th ticketholder scanned at the theatre that afternoon – with a cruise aboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish. The giveaway was announced during curtain call in front of the sold-out audience.

This morning, Good Morning America shared the first-ever televised broadcast of the magic carpet flight during 'A Whole New World' in Aladdin, featuring new cast members Michael Maliakel as Aladdin and Shoba Narayan as Jasmine. Disney's Aladdin has announced new principal cast members ahead of the company's sixth anniversary. Ainsley Melham, star of the original Australian production of Aladdin, will return to the title role on Broadway in March. The exact date will be announced in the near future. Melham previously played the role on Broadway in 2019. Rodney Ingram will re-join the Broadway company to play the role starting Monday, February 17th until Melham's return. Marina Pires (On Your Feet! National Tour) will make her Broadway debut as Jasmine.
