The Edinburgh International Book Festival today announces its 2023 programme which celebrates The Joy of Words and its 40 years as the world’s leading celebration of the written word.

The Beggar was recorded and mixed at Candy Bomber Studio, Berlin, engineered by Ingo Krauss and mastered by Doug Henderson at Micro-Moose, Berlin. The album was written and produced by Michael Gira and features contributions from recent and former Swans, members of Angels of Light, as well as Guest Swan Ben Frost.

The song was co-written by Greensky’s Paul Hoffman (mandolin, vocals) and Joshua Davis (Steppin' In It, Shout Sister Shout). After Davis lost his father and received a son days apart, the timing of back-to-back congratulations and condolences provided striking context to the complexity of life and friendship.

The National Women's Theatre Festival is pleased to present the North Carolina premiere of Manhattan-based, three-time cancer survivor and patient advocate Valerie David's critically, internationally acclaimed comedic solo show The Pink Hulk: One Woman's Journey to Find the Superhero Within. 

Icelandic composer has Gabríel Ólafs debuted the single, Bambaló. The track is from his upcoming album, Lullabies for Piano and Cello, set for release on June 9, 2023 via Decca Records US.

Mother Lode, a play by Virginia Wall Gruenert, will return to Carnegie Stage June 3 at 8:00pm and June 4 at 3:00pm. The production stars Linda Haston, and is directed by Ingrid Sonnichsen.

Taste of Iceland 2023, organized by Inspired by Iceland, arrives in New York, N.Y., Wednesday, May 10 - Saturday, May 13. The four-day cultural festival celebrates the land of fire and ice with more than a dozen events at venues across the city that showcase the best of Icelandic culture, including food and beverage, music, literature, film, art, wellness, and more.

For Record Store Day 2023, Björk will release a double A-side 12” of her recent remixes by Sega Bodega (feat. Shygirl) and sideproject. ‘ovule ft. Shygirl (Sega Bodega remix)’ emphasises the track’s majestic percussive elements. Björk also collaborated with sideproject when producing some of the beats on ‘fossora.’

Performer/playwright Valerie David of New York City returns to the Grange Hall Cultural Center on Sunday, December 11, 2022 @ 3 pm performing in her award-winning solo show, Baggage From BaghDAD: Becoming My Father's Daughter, as well as being GHCC's 2022 Artist-In-Residence recipient for the second time.

The Cincinnati May Festival has announced complete details for  its 150th anniversary in 2023, including programs and featured soloists for performances in April and  May 2023 and local artist and ensemble participants for its 25 for 25: A New Time for Choral Music commissioning project. 

A classic song of lost love and exile, “Leylim Ley” features music composed by renowned Turkish musician, author, poet, and politician Zülfü Livaneli and lyrics written by the late Turkish novelist, short-story writer, poet, and journalist Sabahattin Ali (1907–1948).

Over the festival’s 5-day program, films will be screened at 3 venues including Fotografiska New York and Scandinavia House. Along with the film screenings, NIFF will offer specialty events, like our Nordic flavored mixology class, presented by VI aquavit and our networking filmmaker lounge in Volvo Hall at Scandinavia House.

Rorschach Theatre will present Dissonant City. From October through May, each box reveals a new location and a new chapter in the ongoing story. The first chapter of DISSONANT CITY: A Psychogeographies Project releases October 30, 2022, but participants can join at any time and will be sent the chapters they missed.
