The greater Binghamton area's only professional, non-profit Equity theatre, Chenango River Theatre, will open their 2019 season on May 24 with a new play that is currently the most frequently produced play in the country, A Doll's House, Part 2. Following that production is the World Premiere of a new comedy about an Irish Catholic family in 1973, Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The Immigrant, based on the true story of the author's own family who became the only Jewish family in town when they immigrated to Hamilton, Texas in 1909, runs in the late summer slot. The season finale will be The Sea Horse, an unusual and volatile love story set in a dumpy waterfront bar of the same name.
This past weekend at the Ordway Center, MN Opera unveiled their World Premiere The Fix in tribute to the All-American sport and spirt of baseball. The story created through the company's New Works Initiative by Eric Simonson, who wrote the libretto and also directed the production, was accompanied by composer Joel Puckett. With glowing nostalgia, the 1919 White Sox under Charles Comiskey's ownership and headed by baseball great Shoeless Joe Jackson, sought to 'fix' the 1919 World Series, which disappointed baseball fans across America.

The Killers have unveiled a new stand alone song 'Land Of The Free' with a video by Academy Award-winning director Spike Lee. Recorded at their own Battle Born Studios in Las Vegas, Nevada and produced by Jacknife Lee, with additional gospel vocals by (vocal co-arranger) Lynn Mabry, Dorian Holley, Will Wheaton,Sherree Patrice Brown, Akasha Mabry and Killers' touring vocalists Amanda Brown, Danielle René Withers and Erica Canales.The Killers invited Spike Lee to make the video for the song, a heartfelt lament inspired by current events and recent national tragedies.
