Arthur Miller was perhaps the most celebrated American playwright of the 20th century, with masterful plays Death of a Salesman, All My Sons, A View from the Bridge, and The Crucible capturing the darker side of the American Dream, the political zeitgeist of the day and, somewhat ironically, the bonds of the American family -- particularly fathers and sons. His life and career was threaded through the culture of the country in the mid-20th century: he divorced his first wife to marry Marilyn Monroe; he was subpoenaed by the House Un-American Activities Committee; he won the Pulitzer Prize and numerous Tony Awards; and he spoke out against the Vietnam War. Miller was seen by many as a moral conscience for the nation.

During the current pandemic, KPFK's Arts in Review, Southern California's longest-running radio showcase on live theater and cabaret, will be airing short plays, produced by local small theatres, during the month of May. This week Arts in Review airs an excerpt from IAMA Theatre Company's 10th Anniversary Season premiere of Christian Durso's Redline, directed by Eli Gonda, playing Friday, May 8 (2 to 2:30pm) over KPFK 90.7fm, home of Pacifica Radio for Southern California.

Pride Films And Plays To Present Live Virtual Reading Of Terrence McNally's MOTHERS AND SONS

Four actors, each participating from a different remote location, will perform a live online reading of MOTHERS AND SONS on Thursday, April 16 at 7:00 pm.  Pride Films and Plays Executive Director David G. Zak will direct the reading of the play by Terrence McNally, who passed away at age 81 on March 24 of complications from COVID-19. This is an encore of the reading of the play the company presented in fall 2018 during the run of their production of McNally's IT'S ONLY A PLAY and is the first of several remote presentations the company is planning in order to maintain programming until performances can again be presented in-person in the theater.

Today, The Frights released their fourth studio album, Everything Seems Like Yesterday and announced a spring U.S. headline tour. Produced by bassist Richard Dotson, written and performed by vocalist and guitarist Mikey Carnevale with some sonic assistance from Dotson, it is the band's most emotionally direct body of work to date. Amazon Studios announced today that Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Quantico) and Richard Madden (Bodyguard) will star in Citadel, the new multi-layered global series from the Russo Brothers' AGBO. Amazon also announced today that a local language production of the franchise will originate from Mexico, in addition to the previously announced versions in Italy and India. Madden and Chopra will star in the U.S. 'mothership' edition of the series.

Josh Groban's Great Big Radio City Show Adds Fourth Date Due To Demand

Due to overwhelming demand, the Madison Square Garden Company (MSG) has announced an additional show for Josh Groban's forthcoming residency at New York's iconic Radio City Music Hall on September 26, 2020. To celebrate the announcement, Josh made an appearance on The View this morning to promote the added fourth show date to his residency. Performances will kick off on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2020 with additional shows on April 18, 2020 and June 20th, 2020. Tickets for the September 26, 2020 show are on sale HERE.
