EASTERN STAR Explores the True Story Of 1988 Burmese Uprising at Tara Arts

Ahead of the 30th anniversary of the 1988 student uprising against the military dictatorship in Burma (now Myanmar) on 8th August, Guy Slater in association with Tara Arts is proud to announce the World Premiere production of Eastern Star, to be performed at Tara Theatre from 11th - 29th September. Press night is on Wednesday 12th September at 7.30pm.

David Mamet's Weinstein Play Eyes London Bow and John Malkovich as its Lead

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, David Mamet has written a play about the sexual assault scandal surrounding Harvey Weinstein. The play is titled 'Bitter Wheat,' which the playwright reveal to the Chicago Tribune in February. Now, more details are emerging about the play and its potential upcoming production.

Day two of the Longines Masters of New York featured a full day of action-packed competition, culminating with the Longines Speed Challenge, regarded as the fastest show jumping class in the world. Leading into the Friday night competition, Longines Ambassador of Elegance and Co-founder of The Golden Hat Foundation Kate Winslet met local New York children with Autism and accepted a check on behalf of The Golden Hat Foundation, the Longines Masters of New York official nonprofit partner. The Longines Masters of New York also honored Long Island military this evening with a procession by the Marine Corps color guard and mounted police, and EEM received an official citation issued by Nassau County officials, welcoming the Longines Masters Series to New York.

It has been revealed in a new interview with the Chicago Tribune that playwright David Mamet has written a play about Harvey Weinstein. Mamet reveals that his producer said 'Why don't you write a play about Harvey Weinstein?' So he did.

Playwright David Mamet Will Not Allow Post-Show Talks About His Work

The Guardian reports that playwright David Mamet has placed a ban on any post-show panels about his work, something that has become commonplace in theatres and cinemas. The license to stage one of Mamet's plays, most famously including House of Games and Glengarry Glen Ross, now includes a clause preventing any official debates within two hours of a performance. Every post-show talk that violates this clause results in a loss of licence and a fine of $25,000.
