The Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) has unveiled details for BrAVA Philadelphia! in celebration of its historic 85th Anniversary. On Saturday, March 28, 2020, AVA will present BrAVA Philadelphia!, a spectacular concert of opera stars at 'The Met Philadelphia', the beautifully restored opera house on North Broad Street.

Over 60 Philadelphia region restaurants will fire up the grills and battle for burger bragging rights at the 9th Annual Philadelphia Burger Brawl presented by Jim Beam. The grills come out and the gloves come off on Sunday, September 15, 2019, with VIP gates opening at 1:00pm and general admission opening at 2:00pm. The region's largest food competition will move to a larger new space and take over the Marine Parade Ground at Navy Yard Philadelphia. Upper Darby Summer Stage adds an additional show date to the 44th season finale, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, JR. on August 13 at 10:30 am. Audience members are encouraged to grab their golden tickets to the show that now runs for a total of five performances on August 13, 14, 15 and 16 at 10:30 am and on August 15 at 7:30 pm. 

Upper Darby Summer Stage presents Elliot and The Magic Bed, the story of a boy with an endless imagination who uses his magical bed to travel to lands of pirates, mermaids and sorcerers. Performances are August 7, 8 and 9 at 10:30 a.m. and August 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Vive la France! The Bercy, Delice et Chocolat and Ardmore Initiative present the debut of Ardmore's Bastille Day Block Party this Sunday, July 14, 2019, from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Celebrate your love of French food and culture with an all-day party thrown in honor of the 230th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille. Ardmore Restaurant Week, the popular two-week celebration of Downtown Ardmore's exciting and diverse dining scene, returns July 15 through July 28, 2019. Diners can experience a variety of cuisines from the Main Line's top chefs as they enjoy two-course lunch  menus for $10 and $15, and three-course dinner menus for $15, $25 and $35. The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's PRYSM (Philadelphia Region Youth String Music) and PRYSM-YA (PRYSM Young Artists) ensembles will take to the stage for their 12th Annual Festival Concert. The concert will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 3 p.m. and will be held in Centennial Hall at the Haverford School, located at 750 Lancaster Avenue in Haverford, PA.

Villanova Theatre presents Chrysalis, a new play by Kathryn Petersen in development with Director Edward Sobel. Chrysalisexplores the metamorphosis of Maria Sybilla Merian, 17th century illustrator and naturalist, and her teenage daughter, Dorothea as they redraw the lines of their personal and professional relationship.

Theatre Philadelphia proudly announces the return of Philly Theatre Week with 81 organizations, 100 events and 315+ performances between February 7 to 17, 2019. This new 10-day celebration will showcase the vibrant and diverse theatre scene in the tri-state region, and help make theatre even more accessible to the community. Magical mice battle toy soldiers, life-size dolls come to life, a daring Nutcracker comes to the rescue, and Candy Land characters put on a dazzling performance for their new heroine, Marie. The classically trained dancers and professional soloists offer an elaborate, professional-level production the weekend before Thanksgiving. The show is popularly priced for all family members to enjoy.

Directed by Whiting and Barrymore Award winner James Ijames, this smart hit comedy about books and the people who love them runs September 18-30, 2018.

After the culmination of a year-long partnership, Mural Arts Philadelphia has brought to life Philadelphia's first augmented reality mural. Dreams, Diaspora, and Destiny, created by artists Joshua Mays and King Britt, is the first partnership of its kind, connecting public and private high school youth to create a project in a community in which they cohabitate. Mays and Britt, two cutting-edge thinkers, have brought a multimedia sight and sound installation to the heart of West Philadelphia's Conestoga neighborhood. Dreams, Diaspora, and Destiny involved students from Haverford School and Mastery Shoemaker Charter School to imagine the possible futures of West Philadelphia. The project integrates art and technology through image recognition and the sounds of an original score, based on community interviews and youth-created sounds. Using a free app available on smartphones, created by Blue Design, viewers will see and hear the art come to life.

The uplifting musical comedy "Freckleface Strawberry The Musical" will light up Upper Darby Summer Stage. Based on the bestselling book written by actress Julianne Moore, "Freckleface Strawberry" features toe-tapping songs and dances and explores important lessons such as embracing one's differences. Performances are July 25, 26, and 27 at 10:30 a.m. and on July 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.
