'Women Make The World Go Round' to Host Second Mixed Art Exhibit in LA, 11/15

The exhibit will be held in Santa Monica for ONE NIGHT ONLY, and will showcase photography, drawing, ceramics, collage, painting and sculpture. The artists presenting their works will range from newcomers to established names and include: Simone Alexandrino, Shawna Ankenbrandt, Lisa Bartleson, Tatiana Botton, Mitra Fabian, Lia Halloran, Maria Kolligian, Kim McDonald, Alisha Olson, Catherine Opie, Jen Rosenstein, Karrie Ross, Nike Schroder, Gay Summer Rick, Moye Thompson, Christine Weir, and Valerie Wilcox.

Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival have officially merged under the producing umbrella of the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse. The Playhouse is the parent organization, building on its reputation in the community and theater industry. The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse now comprises Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival.
Brett Smock Joins Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival

Brett Smock has joined the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival as general manager and associate artistic director. In this role, Smock will work with Producing Director Ed Sayles and assume the responsibilities currently assigned to the interim managing director, while placing a particular emphasis on talent negotiations, cost control and new play development. Smock is based in New York City. He is a well-known creative producer, director and choreographer within the theater industry with a special interest in developing new plays and musicals.
Merry-Go-Round Playhouse’s Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival Declared a Success

The inaugural season of the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse's Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival was a success, according to Festival organizers. The Festival, held in Auburn, N.Y., included nine musicals and played a significant role in shaping 20 new musicals during the 2012 season. Downtown Auburn also saw a boost in activity as patrons visited restaurants and spent time in the city.

The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse has announced the return of Sandra Karas to the Playhouse stage in the role of Mother Superior in "Nunsense," the final production of the 2012 Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival season. Karas, who serves as secretary and treasurer of the Actors' Equity Association, most recently appeared as Fraulein Schneider in "Cabaret" at the Playhouse in August. Karas resides in New York City, but was a resident of Manlius for many years. She has been seen in numerous productions at the Playhouse including Sister Lee in "Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, Vivian in "Church Basement Ladies 2: A Second Helping" and Tottendale in "The Drowsy Chaperone."
