Set appropriately in the "woods" of Shawnee Mission Park, INTO THE WOODS opens this Friday, July 6 as part of a seven-performance run at the outdoor amphitheater. Performances continue Saturday and Sunday July 7 & 8 as well as the following Wednesday through Saturday July 11-14. Showtime for all productions is 8:30 p.m. with gates opening at 7 p.m. This production is rated PG.

 A stunning gown designed by Canadian Lucian Matis will be showcased at the upcoming Royal Ascot in England starting today. Designed in collaboration with artisans from Omba Arts Trust from Namibia, the gown was created as part of The Commonwealth Fashion Exchange exhibit. The complete look first debuted at Buckingham Palace last February and was later showcased in the Australian High Commission in London, until it was featured at April's Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit. Matis' unique look was a commentary on environmental disasters, using fashion to both highlight our failings and preserve ancient crafts.

A friendship between William Doyle, owner of the Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge, Ireland and Kurt Cobain's mother, sisters and daughter will bring to Ireland never exhibited intimate items of the rock legend's life. A chorus of some 800 experienced and amateur singers will premiere John Luther Adams's In the Name of the Earth in Central Park's Harlem Meer. The performance builds on two highly acclaimed outdoor world premieres commissioned previously for the Mostly Mozart Festival: 2014's Sila: The Breath of the World, also by John Luther Adams, and David Lang's the public domain, which marked the 50th anniversary of the Mostly Mozart Festival in 2016. Simon Halsey, who led the performance of the public domain, returns to the festival to conduct In the Name of the Earth.
