Just in time for LGBTQ Pride Month, and on the cusp of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, SpeakEasy Stage Company presents the New England premiere of the Off-Broadway musical THE VIEW UPSTAIRS in the Plaza Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts. Inspired by a little-known historical event, Max Vernon pays tribute to '70s gay culture and the victims of the firebombing of the UpStairs Lounge in the French Quarter of New Orleans in 1973. Although 32 people perished (the deadliest assault on a gay bar prior to the 2016 shooting at the Pulse nightclub which killed 49 people), Vernon's book and score focus on the personalities of the archetypal characters, the challenges they faced in that era, and the strong ties they forged to make a life in the homosexual community.

The Raconteurs – Jack White, Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler – have released their brand-new single “Help Me Stranger”. The latest track to be released from their long awaited new album,HELP US STRANGER (Third Man Records) is out digitally everywhere now and is available instantly with all digital pre-orders of the album, along with previously released songs “Hey Gyp (Dig The Slowness),” “Now That You're Gone,” and “Sunday Driver.” The band have also premiered the companion music video for “Help Me Stranger” today on YouTube. The video, which was filmed last month in the mysterious city of Kimitsu, Japan by director/visual effects specialist Yasuhiko Shimizu around the band's recent Tokyo shows, can be seen now HERE.

Conor Hanney, Lee Huff, and Angela Todaro will bring their world premiere musical Stranger Things 2: The Musical Tribute to the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival in June. There will be five performances only at the Broadwater Black Box Saturday 6/8 at 4pm; Friday 6/14 at 8pm; Saturday 6/15 at 11pm; Saturday 6/22 at 3pm; and Friday 6/28 at 7pm. Running time will be 85 minutes.

Written by Marisela Treviño Orta (The River Bride, Braided Sorrow, Wolf at the Door) as part of Audible's Emerging Playwrights Fund, Nightfall will make its world premiere in Geffen's Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater in February and marks the completion of the Geffen Playhouse 2019/2020 season lineup.

HBO Begins Production on the Mark Wahlberg Documentary Series MCMILLIONS

HBO is in production on MCMILLIONS, a documentary series chronicling the stranger-than-fiction story of an ex-cop turned security auditor who rigged the McDonald's Monopoly game promotion for a decade, stealing millions of dollars and building a vast network of co-conspirators across the U.S. The series comes from Unrealistic Ideas, the non-scripted production company launched by Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Archie Gips and producing partners James Lee Hernandez and Brian Lazarte, who will serve as directors on the documentary series.
