SPIDER-MAN's own Reeve Carney recently chatted with Time Out New York about how how he keeps himself in top Spidey shape. Carney revealed, 'For me, the show is my workout. [Spider-Man] is a really great cardiovascular workout. The biggest change I've noticed is that my reflexes have improved dramatically. But I never wanted to get any bigger. I'm onstage with a band, and I like to wear sleeveless shirts. The only rock star I can think of who really makes that work, with muscles, is Bruce Springsteen, and I'm not really like him. I love his music, but I wouldn't put myself in that category. It helps to be a little more slight-of-build.'
Reeve and Zane Carney make up half of the band Carney, which opened for U2 last month. The band also plays the music of Broadway's SPIDER-MAN, TURN OFF THE DARK at the Foxwoods Theatre nightly; Reeve Carney plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the show.
The brothers recently sat down with the Associated Press to discuss SPIDER-MAN, what it was like to work with music greats, and more. Afterward, they gave an acoustic set including 'Rise Above' from the production as well as some of their own songs - view both the interview and the music below!
For the past several months, I've been getting a lot of emails from all of you asking if your child is the right age to see Spiderman. I haven't answered because I saw the old version, before they did a complete overhaul of the script, score, structure and pretty much everything else. The new version features a plot that is much easier for kids to follow. Luckily, my favorite character THE LIZARD is still there. He kind of looks like Barney's cousin which gives me such joy because I think I'm going to dress my dog up like him for Halloween. I just need a tiny lab coat.
Columbia Pctures has released the teaser trailer for the upcoming fourth movie of the SPIDER-MAN franchise- 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' which is directed by Marc Webb.

Last night's performance of SPIDER-MAN, TURN OFF THE DARK may have been a little too reminiscent of its early previews for some theatregoers.
The intricate flying sequences, which led to delays and injuries in SPIDER-MAN's preview performances, were for the most part cancelled in last night's performance; the performance went on as scheduled, but reportedly a problem with the mechanism used to send the actors in flight through the Foxwoods was detected before the show.
The funny thing about 70 million dollar musicals is that the paper used to write them costs no more than the paper used to write church basement showcases budgeted on the limit of someone's maxed-out credit card. And twenty thousand years from now, when intergalactic societies consider our generation's artistic ambitions based on which words and music written on that paper we chose to support with extravagantly-financed productions viewed by over ten thousand purchasers of high-priced tickets every week, let's hope we don't have to sheepishly shield our faces in our afterlife abodes as they flabbergastedly wonder, 'What the hell were they thinking?'
SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK has been making headlines since even before it began previews in November 2010. It comes as no surprise, then, that Law & Order: Criminal Intent - known for molding the stories that make news into their plot - created an episode inspired by the mammoth musical that aired last night, June 19. Although SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK has seldom stopped making headlines in the past year, the team behind the musical has been all but mum on details regarding their tumultous journey. From recasting, to previews, to delays, and finally opening night - which took place just this Tuesday - there has been more attention focused on the show than any in recent memory.
A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, SPIDER-MAN cast member Luther Creek was the recipient at the Foxwoods Theatre in New York City.
