In time for the holidays, Opera San José presents a captivating production of Humperdinck's irresistible fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, offering a joyful event for the entire family. While adults enjoy the rich score inspired by the sophisticated orchestrations of Wagner, youngsters will be transported by the not-very-scary tale of two children who use their wits to overcome a bumbling witch, setting free a whole batch of gingerbread children from her fearful spell.

Madison Lyric Stage, an award-winning, professional theater company serving the Connecticut Shoreline, will present the classic fairytale opera Hansel and Gretel October 4–13 at the historic Deacon John Grave House in Madison, CT. Reading Rep Theatre today announces the world première of Helen Eastman's The Nutcracker, a brand-new musical adaption of the classic tale for all the family. The production opens at Reading Studio from 20 December, with previews from 17 December, and runs until 23 December 2019.

Brett J. Roden announced today that Roanoke Children's Theatre (RCT) has hired Brynn Scozzari as Director of Education. Scozzari will fill the role previously vacated by Roden who will assume duties as the Producing Artistic Director for RCT on September 1, 2019.

As winner of the competition, now in its fourth year, Chuchman receives a $10,000 cash prize.

Ragtag Theatre's Hansel and Gretel is now open at Barrington Stage Company. The production is being staged at the Berkshire Museum. Hansel and Gretel runs through August 10.
