SiNNERMAN Ensemble presents their second production, the world premiere of Sweet Confinement, written by Artistic Director Anna Carini and directed by Anna Bahow, a violent, hilarious and heartbreaking journey of five twenty-something friends. This fiercely dark comedy follows extreme circumstances that turn a bathroom into the setting for an unexpected reunion, where old wounds are torn open and healed again, individuals are tested and alliances are stretched to their limits. 'Sweet Confinement delves into the dark side of our humanity under the pressure of tragedy, turning a spotlight onto the complex relationships that we experience as family, friends, and lovers,' press notes state. Sweet Confinement runs ninety minutes without intermission. SiNNERMAN, formed out of a Steppenwolf Theatre summer program, is spelled with all caps except for the 'i', and is named after the Nina Simone song.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine, and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, continues its Spring 2008 season with the return engagement of Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony winner RITA MORENO from April 1 - 5. Her show will include songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Kander & Ebb, Harold Arlen and Charles Strouse. Also added to the Feinstein's season will be LINDA EDER, who will return to the club for five shows only from April 24 - 26. All performances will be at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

Performed by Nilaja Sun and directed by Hal Brooks, No Child… runs from May 11 through June 1 on Berkeley Rep's Thrust Stage. Opening night is Monday, May 12.

Schadenfreude - derived from the German noun meaning 'pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others' - has been performing sketch comedy for years. They have headlined the Chicago Improv Festival, performed at Lollapalooza and had their own self-titled radio program on Chicago Public Radio. The troupe has also performed at L.A.'s UCB Theater, HERE Arts in NYC and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Kevin Douglas and Inda Craig-Galvan, collectively known as kevINda, have created a smart mix of racial and political satire. Their first revue as a sketch duo, These Coloreds Don't Run, played at Donny's Skybox Theatre in 2003. Since then, the duo has performed at C'est La Vie Drama, the Black Arts Initiative at HotHouse and the Acme Arts Building for Wordplay.

Braugher and Rabe to Join Public's 'Hamlet' This Summer

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Mara Manus) announced additional casting today for the 2008 Shakespeare in the Park summer season. Andre Braugher and Lily Rabe will join the company as Claudius and Ophelia, respectively, in Oskar Eustis' production of HAMLET. They join the previously announced Michael Stuhlbarg as Hamlet and Richard Easton as Polonius. HAMLET will begin previews on Tuesday, May 27 and run through Sunday, June 29.

Valerie Smaldone will be filling in on the WOR Morning Show from 5-9am this week. She will be infusing several theater and entertainment stories into the morning news program. Smaldone, a 5 time Billboard Magazine Award winner, is perhaps best known for her unprecedented success holding the #1 position in the New York radio market as the midday host of New York's 106.7 FM. She ended her on air run with the station at the end of 2007. In addition, she was the co-creator, writer, producer and host of 'Spotlight On,' a nationally syndicated program that featured in-depth interviews with top recording artists such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, Sting and Celine Dion, to name a few.

On March 29, a celebrity and VIP reception with cocktails and a silent auction will beging at 6:30pm with a finner and the program to follow at 7:30. Recepients this year are Bob Mackie (Inagural Fashion Arts Award), the Hollywood Wax Museum (Entertainment Arts Award), the Blank Theatre at 2nd Stage (Theatre Arts Award), Community Redevelopment Agency (Public Art Award), Iron Mountain (Preservation Arts Award), Cinefamily/Silent Movie Theatre (Cinematic Arts Award), AYLA Arslanian (Community Arts Award) and Councilmember Tom LaBonge (Special Recognition Award).
