American roots artist The Reverend Shawn Amos has shared a new video for his track 'Stranger Than Today.' The video is currently streaming via American Songwriter who writes, 'After making the move from Los Angeles to Texas, Amos found himself with an abundance of freedom that he had not felt before as an artist. This new free-spirited way of life created a desire to explore his past while still pursuing his future.' Amos will release his new album Blue Sky on April 17th.

The Joan W. and Irving B. Harris Theater for Music and Dance has announced its Harris Theater Presents season for 2020-21, its most ambitious and diverse lineup to date. ​​​​​​​The first performance of Matthew Bourne's contemporary Swan Lake was performed at the Sadler's Wells Theater, London, in 1995. It has endured twenty-five years with the staying power of a new classic -- for very good reason. Bourne has reinvented the swans from maidens who have been turned into beautiful swans by an evil sorcerer, to male swans, summoned by the dreams and desires of a pampered, regimented prince, no sorcerer in sight. Much has been made of this and the homoerotic overtones that appear at times; however, there is much more to it than that as a piece of theater. It is a psychological drama which explores, among other things, celebrity and Royalty in today's world.

Washington Ensemble Theatre (WET) will present a limited engagement of UGLY (Black Queer Zoo), a dynamic solo piece from internationally recognized choreographer Raja Feather Kelly. UGLY (Black Queer Zoo) is the second installment in The GUSH Series, WET's latest program that presents theatrical works from outside Seattle that are curated by the Ensemble and performed on its mainstage.

I had the marvelous opportunity to pose a few queries to this imposing dancer.

When Theatre [502] launched in 2010, it was a personal project from a Louisville Theatre power trio, Amy Attaway, Gil Reyes, and Mike Brooks. All three brought strong experience and sound reputations for working with actors and designers. Their vision for the company was to produce contemporary plays that would be new to Louisville, '...filling a gap in what small theatre companies were doing here at the time' according to Ms. Attaway. All three were directors and the first seasons tended to take a three-point stance, each one in charge of one production.
