On Saturday, September 8th, the World Financial Center Winter Garden will welcome families and visitors to the third annual Brooke Jackman Foundation Read-A-Thon, with readings of children's books by Rosie Perez, cast members of "Spider-Man Turn off the Dark", Reading Rainbow creator Dr. Twila Liggett, Care Bears on Fire, John Schaefer, 9/11 uniformed heroes and many other special guests.

Broadway star Robert Cuccioli, best known for his Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle winning and Tony-nominated performance as the star of Jekyll and Hyde, will take on the role in his long-anticipated return to Broadway. Cuccioli will play his first performance on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street).

Giving back is an integral part of Variations, A Dancer's Studio director and co-founder Erin Lopez's heart and soul. And so on August 13, Variations, A Dancer's Studio, based in Huntington, Long Island, is hosting "Broadway Celebrates Variations," a star-ridden benefit performance at The Paramount in Huntington. The purpose is to raise money to establish a scholarship fund for talented, financially needy area dance students, not unlike the Queens-born Erin Lopez once was herself.

On Saturday afternoon, Lt. Col Emmett 'Lee' Wingfield III of the 621 CRW and his family attended SPIDER-Man Turn Off the Dark through the "Real Heroes" program, which provides specially priced tickets for America's Real Heroes and their families. Being on active duty for 18 years in the Air Force as an officer means they rarely get family time, and they made this special trip to NY for his son's 10th birthday. The NY Daily News reports that a brief bomb scare occured at the Foxwoods Theatre on W 42nd Street in New York City yesterday, just minutes before First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters Sasha, 11 and Malia, 14 arrived to attend the 3:00 pm matinee performance of SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK.

The Andrew Garfield-lead reboot brought in approximately $35 million on its opening day, beating the previous Tuesday record of $27.9 held by 2007's 'Transformers.
