Casting Announced For 'Billy Elliot'

The New York Times has reported that three boys have been chosen to play the title role of Billy Elliot. They are David Alvarez from Montreal, Kiril Kulish and Trent Kowalik. They will alternate performances when the musical opens on October 1st 2008.

The show was created by the team who brought us the record-breaking Dora the Explorer Live, which was seen by over 3 million people. The lead role of kids' favorite adventurer Diego is played by Jesse Carrion, who recently starred in the 2007 national touring production of Rent and the original play The Lockdown Club at the Stella Adler Theater in Los Angeles.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will host Broadway Karaoke on Monday, May 5th at Arena (135 West 41st Street). Come see some of Broadway's hottest performers - uncensored and unrehearsed like you've never seen them before!
The evening begins with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in Midtown's hottest nightclub, Arena. Next Seth Rudetsky hosts incredible off-the-cuff performances by some of the brightest stars on Broadway! Finally, the audience can get into the act with an hour of open mic karaoke! All proceeds will go to the Education Programs of Roundabout Theatre Company, one of the country's top not-for-profit theatres.

Artistic Director Russ Tutterow announced Chicago Dramatists' 30th anniversary season, featuring three productions of world premiere plays, and the fourth annual Many Voices Project. Each year Chicago Dramatists, 'the playwrights' theatre,' produces three of the best new plays from the hundreds developed through its many developmental programs. This year, 'Ten Cent Night' by resident playwright Marisa Wegrzyn, 'How I Became an Interesting Person' by resident playwright Will Dunne, and 'Hope VI' by resident playwright Nambi E. Kelley, will make up its production season.
