Flint Repertory Theatre presents a?oeTHE CHAIRSa??, the absurdist comedy by Eugène Ionesco, translated by Donald M. Allen starring Kay Kelly and Michael Kelly. Performances begin Friday November 1 and runs through Sunday November 10. Tickets are now on sale.

Bristol Riverside Theatre announces that Founding Director Susan D. Atkinson and Artistic Director Keith Baker will be stepping down from their day-to-day roles at the end of the 2019-2020 season. Atkinson is credited with helping to rejuvenate Bristol Borough during her 33 years of service. She led the way in turning an old adult movie theatre into a professional theatre company that has produced five world class productions a year for the past 33 years. Baker steps down after 28 years of service to the theatre. He wore many different hats at BRT, directing, singing and acting in over 120 plays and musicals, and steering its artistic vision. The duo will step down from their roles at the conclusion of the current season. The BRT Board of Directors has launched an extensive search for a new artistic director. Later in the season, look for news of a special event that will honor Atkinson and Baker's service to the organization and the community. 

Just last month, reports revealed that music star Harry Styles had turned down the role of Prince Eric in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney's The Little Mermaid. News has not surfaced revealing who might play the role... until today. According to Deadline, both Cameron Cuffe (Krypton) and Jonah Hauer-King have recently tested for director Rob Marshall.

Portland Opera is pleased to announce the artists joining the company's 2019/20 Resident Artist program: soprano Emilie Faiella, returning mezzo-soprano Camille Sherman, tenor Ricardo Garcia, and returning baritone Geoffrey Schellenberg. Portland Opera established the Resident Artist Program in 2005, providing a bridge from the conservatory world to the professional stage for talented emerging singers, who join the company for a two-year rigorous residency and training program.

Luca Silvestrini's Protein announce a multi-dimensional celebratory programme to mark the company's 21st birthday. Since their first production in 1998, Protein have cemented their reputation as one of Britain's most distinctive dance companies, blending bold and clever choreography with a great sense of humour. The anniversary celebrations draw on Luca's choreographic practice and Protein's rich tradition of working with non-professional dancers from across the community, including students in pupil referral units and the elderly. Protein 21 coincides with a UK tour and Christmas run for The Little Prince, along with further developments to the company's plans to relocate to Woolwich Works.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced Andrea McArdle and Donna McKechnie: Celebrate Sondheim & Hamlisch on Monday, July 8 at 8 pm as part of Bay Street Theater's Music Mondays concert series. Rachel Portman's opera, The Little Prince, will play at Teatro Colon Sept. 28-29 after one performance on May 11.

Lyric Unlimited, the branch of Lyric Opera of Chicago devoted to education, community engagement, and new artistic initiatives, is excited to announce its latest original opera for young audiences, Earth to Kenzie. Written by composer Frances Pollock with librettist Jessica Murphy Moo, and directed by Jess McLeod, this new opera was created specifically for kids ages 7-12.

The 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2018-2019 season were handed out in a star-studded celebratory ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, hosted by the multi-talented, multi-award-winning Rick Miller, well-known for his widely acclaimed one-man shows that include MacHomer, BOOM and Bigger Than Jesus (Dora Award for Outstanding Performance, 2006).
