Hackney Empire today announced the full cast of its brand new pantomime for 2016, Sleeping Beauty. The West End's leading lady Alexia Khadime (Wicked, The Book of Mormon, The Lion King) will be returning to the site of her stage debut to star as Princess Tahlia (Sleeping Beauty). She will be joined by Olivier Award-winner Sharon D Clarke who returns to Hackney Empire after her appearance in Mother Goose in 2014. They are joined by Gavin Spokes who makes his dameing debut, he joins the Hackney Empire family straight from his Olivier Award-nominated performance as Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls in the West End.

The Lyric Hammersmith today announces full casting for its Christmas show, Aladdin. The Lyric's annual panto returns when Aladdin flies into Hammersmith on his magic carpet for some festive fun in true Lyric style. Fresh for 2016, the show will be full of colourful characters, live music, lots of laughs and of course the magical Genie.

A new production of The Exorcist, directed by Sean Mathias, will receive its UK premiere at Birmingham Repertory Theatre from Friday 21 October - Saturday 5 November 2016. The cast features Jenny Seagrove in the role of Chris, Peter Bowles as Father Merrin and Adam Garcia as Damien.

Gary Barlow and Tim Firth's new British musical, THE GIRLS, based on the true story, the film and the award-winning play by Tim Firth, Calendar Girls, will open in London's West End at the Phoenix Theatre, with performances from 28 January 2017.  Tickets are on sale from 12.00noon today, Friday 16 September 2016.  The West End premiere follows sold-out runs at the Grand Theatre Leeds and the Lowry Salford late 2015/early 2016.  In the West End, the producers have made a commitment to there being no 'premium-rated' seats, no booking fees and reduced price previews. 

Director Alex Dmitriev is bringing lunchtime theatre back to the West End, with three heartfelt and provocative short plays by American playwright Ken Jaworowski. 

The world premiere of the award-winning new play The Great Divide by acclaimed new American playwright Alix Sobler runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 4 September 2016 (Press Night: Monday, 5 September 2016 at 7.30pm).

The Alexander Upstairs loves new writing and the 'Anthology' series is a platform for writers to play with style and material. In this edition, three writers, two actors, and one director come together to create an anthology of three new short plays on the theme AFTER THE END.

Casting has been announced for first major revival of Caryl Churchill's BLUE HEART, nearly 20 years after its Royal Court premiere, co-produced by Tobacco Factory Theatres and the Orange Tree Theatre. Blue Heart brings them together to work again with key creatives David Mercatali and Angela Davies, who have worked on previous projects with both organisations. The play runs at Tobacco Factory Theatres 22 September-1 October, and at the Orange Tree Theatre 13 October-19 November.

WE DIDN'T COME TO HELL FOR THE CROISSANTS: SEVEN DEADLY NEW STORIES FOR CONSENTING ADULTS will be back on Cape Town stages for eleven performances at the Alexander Bar and Café's Upstairs Theatre.

Shakespeare's Globe has announced full casting for Matthew Dunster's production of IMOGEN. Award-winning actor Maddy Hill, in the lead role of Imogen, is best known for the recurring role of Nancy Carter in EastEnders (BBC), for which she won Best Newcomer at the National Television Awards in 2015, and Best Newcomer in the British Soap Awards 2014, as well as being nominated for Best Newcomer at the TV Choice Awards 2014. Maddy will be joined by Jonathan McGuinness as Cymbeline, Ira Mandela Siobhan as Posthumus and Matthew Needham as Iachimo. Running from 17 September, Imogen is Shakespeare's Cymbeline renamed and reclaimed.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD is currently in previews in London's West End at the Palace Theatre, where it will open on July 30. Jamie Parker, Noma Dumezweni and Paul Thornily lead the cast as Harry, Hermione and Ron, as part of a company of 42 talented actors. Rufus Norris's National Theatre production of THE THREEPENNY OPERA by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill in a new adaptation by Simon Stephens will be broadcast live to cinemas around the world direct from the National's Olivier Theatre on 22 September at 7pm.

DANI AND THE LION, Daneel van der Walt's cabaret of stories as songs, began its run at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown today, with performances continuing through 10 July.

On 5 July, the National Arts Festival's Arena Programme will host the world premiere of AS EVER, BESSIE - a poignant story that has been left untold, until now. Written and directed by Bobbie Fitchen, the play will have two special preview performances at the Galloway Theatre prior to its bow at the festival.

Full cast is today announced for the world premiere of new musical A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer with book by Bryony Kimmings and Brian Lobel, music by Tom Parkinson and lyrics by Bryony Kimmings.  Francesca Mills, Max Runham and Lottie Vallis complete the company and join the previously announced Naana Agyei-Ampadu, Amy Booth-Steel, Hal Fowler, Amanda Hadingue, Akiya Henry, Golda Rosheuvel, Rose Shalloo, Gareth Snook and Gary Wood.
