Itzhak Perlman to Perform with New York Philharmonic, 4/11

Violinist Itzhak Perlman will perform music from Vienna and Hollywood with the New York Philharmonic on Monday, April 11, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert. The program replaces the previously announced Henry V: A Shakespeare Scenario, narrated by Christopher Plummer. Mr. Plummer has had to reschedule his appearance with the Orchestra due to the extended filming of Barrymore; a new concert date will be announced at a later time. Repertoire for Mr. Perlman's program will be announced shortly.

Music Director Alan Gilbert, The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Chair, will lead the New York Philharmonic in Bartók's Violin Concerto No. 2, with Lisa Batiashvili as soloist, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, Eroica, Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 6, at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, May 7, at 8:00 p.m. These are the Orchestra's final concerts before departing for the EUROPE / SPRING 2011 tour; both works on this program will also be performed on this tour of European capitals.

Theatre veterans Kenneth Branagh and Rob Brydon are set to star in The Painkiller at the Lyric Theatre. The production will be a new adaptation of the Francis Veber work by Sean Foley. The show will open on September 29.

In a recent interview with the Telegraph, Tony-winner Alan Cumming went on the record about his current and hopefully future projects, Cumming shared: 'I want to do a production of Macbeth where I play Macbeth one night and Lady Macbeth the next - and the girl who plays Lady Macbeth will change around too. I think it's a way at looking at gender, what defines a man.'
