Hennepin Theatre Trust, which hosts the Broadway Across America touring season in Minneapolis, has released 5 clues to tease the first show in its upcoming 2023/2024 season.

There is beauty in the simplicity of this concept. My Son's A Queer (But What Can You Do?) is a tale about growing up. More specifically, the 'ups and downs of raising a queer child.' It is also clearly a production made for and by generations of theatre kids, the kind who prefer to stay in the dress-up section of the school (especially if it gets them out of a football match).

Rob Madge is a busy person. A theatre maker, writer and actor, they began working professionally in theatre at the age of 9, having spent the majority of their childhood forcing their family to help them put on shows in the living room, which is brought to life in Rob’s debut play My Son’s A Queer, (But What Can You Do?).

Navigating my college years through online school was not the easiest, but it definitely was manageable.

The album features guest appearances by some of Henry’s closest musical collaborators, among them his son Levon Henry on saxophone and clarinet, guitarists Bill Frisell and Marc Ribot, bassist David Piltch, pianist Patrick Warren, Daniel Lanois on organ, singer Madison Cunningham and many more.

Simard's concept for the show, which she performed twice at 54 Below, was that she has mostly played second banana to many of her musical theater idols on stage, so Simard would honor that star with a song they are known for. It's a fun idea, brilliantly executed by Simard and her musical director and accompanist Steve Marzullo.

59E59 Theaters has announced additional productions for their Winter 2023 Season. The 59E59 Winter 2023 Season will begin with the previously announced productions of The Immortal Jellyfish Girl, presented by Wakka Wakka; followed by two productions as part of Origin’s 1st Irish.

In sociology, the third place is an environment in which we find comfort and familiarity that is separate from home (our first place) or work (our second place). It’s no secret that Broadway has not rebounded to pre-pandemic levels. The Thanksgiving week box office gross was $37,475,773, compared to $41,687,333 for Thanksgiving week 2019. (While fewer shows were playing, capacity was also down, as was average ticket price.) Fresh off selling out several of her largest headlining shows to-date, Holly Humberstone took to the stage last night on The Late Show on Stephen Colbert on CBS. Accompanied by the lush instrumentals of a full band, Humberstone delivered the captivating debut television video performance of her new song “Can You Afford To Lose Me?”.
