At ten years old, Martin Hill was on the brink of stardom, down to the final two contenders for the role of Harry Potter but narrowly missing out. Now an adult, Martin is about to embark on the ultimate adventure – fatherhood. As he navigates this whirlwind of emotions, he is pulled back to that pivotal moment in his past as he struggled to move beyond imagining what his life might have been.



Second Best is a playful yet poignant new comedy about fate, near-misses and the winding paths life takes. It explores the ache of almost touching greatness and the humour and hope that come when dreams remain just out of reach. A story about the tender moments that shape

us, Second Best is for anyone who has ever wondered about the road not taken, and whether the other life would have been as glittering as it looks.



Starring Asa Butterfield (Netflix’s Sex Education) in his stage debut, written by Barney Norris, based on David Foenkinos’ best-selling novel and directed by Michael Longhurst.

But the San Diego Symphony has selected Venezuelan conductor Rafael Payare as its new music director. That may have been a factor in M?celaru's decision to step in for Franz Welser-Most with the Gewandhaus Orchestra instead of appearing at the Jacobs Music Center in San Diego this past weekend. Not a problem. Young American conductor Case Scaglione did not disappoint as Macelaru's replacement.

The Music Critics Association of North America (MCANA) is pleased to announce that its second annual award for Best New Opera has been given to composer David Hertzberg for The Wake World, which received its premiere on September 18, 2017, commissioned by Opera Philadelphia in a co-presentation with The Barnes Foundation. The award was created to honor musical and theatrical excellence in a fully staged opera that received its world premiere in North America during the preceding calendar year. The inaugural award went to  Breaking the Waves, composed by Missy Mazzoli with libretto by Royce Vavrek.

The 49th Annual NASHVILLE Film Festival continues its rollout of film announcements with the short films in competition. This year the festival received nearly 5,000 shorts submissions and 215 shorts were selected. Selected shorts this year include films made by Dev Patel, Justine Bateman, and Neill Blomkamp and starring Natalia Dyer, Armie Hammer, Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver, and Kerri Kenney.

NBC Sports Digital Sets February Sports Record With 93 Million Unique Users

The 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, Super Bowl LII, NHL, and Premier League powered NBC Sports Digital to the best February delivery ever in the sports category, with 93 million unique users in the month, according to multiplatform data released by comScore. In addition to setting the February record, Yahoo Sports–NBC Sports Network's 93 million unique users topped by 31% the No. 2 outlet in February (ESPN, 71 million uniques), and delivered NBC Sports Digital's second best month ever – behind its sports-industry record 110 million uniques in August 2016, which was highlighted by the Rio Olympics, NASCAR, the Premier League's season opening weekends, and NFL preseason games. NBC Sports Digital also outpaced its performance last February by 83% (51 million) and the Sochi Olympics-led February 2014 by 46% (64 million).

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Oscar nominee Martin McDonagh's play Hangmen has been eying a Broadway transfer, but the move is not to be, according to the New York Post. Michael Riedel reports that the play, playing through March 25 at Atlantic Theater Company's Linda Gross Theater, will not arrive on Broadway this spring because leading man Johnny Flynn and his wife are expecting a baby.

Golf Channel Matches Most Watched February Since 2013

Despite being opposite NBC Sports' comprehensive coverage of the Winter Olympics for much of the month, Golf Channel grew its audience +7% from its 'most-watched January ever' to match its most-watched February since 2013. With an average of 124,000 viewers per minute in Total Day, the network matched February 2017 according to data released by The Nielsen Company. This builds off Golf Channel earning its most-watched December and January on record, and February also saw the network return to No. 1 among single-sport networks in Total Day. NBC Sports will look to carry this momentum into March, with live coverage of the WGC-Mexico Championship this week kicking off a five-week stretch of PGA TOUR events airing exclusively across Golf Channel and NBC leading up to the Masters.
