Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST)  has announced the cast and creative team of the highly anticipated The Lord of the Rings – A Musical Tale. Based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, this production comes to the stage in a US premiere production directed by Paul Hart, July 19–September 1, 2024 in The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare.

SCHWARTZ SONGS, an album of new recordings of Stephen Schwartz's much-loved songs, will be released this month. [March 2024]---- Hello again readers! As the semester rolls into the springtime (yay), I'm thinking about all the theatre songs that give STRONG spring vibes in my opinion. My playlists and musical tastes definitely change when the seasons do, so I'm trying to get myself out of the dreary state of winter and into a bright springtime era. Without further ado, let's list them!

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced full casting for Gordon Greenberg’s production of The Baker’s Wife – with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Joseph Stein. Learnm ore about the cast here!

Playhouse Theatre Academy is offering Adult Tap Classes this summer for ages 18 and up! Classes begin as early as June 3rd, and walk-ins are welcome. Darlene Zoller’s classes are continuing by popular demand, after successful winter and spring sessions. Registration is open, and slots are filling quickly.

I got home from school two weeks ago, had graduation, and now that my break has finally started… I have a million things to do. While I’m excited to be kicking off a year of no school, coming home for the Summer started what has been a work heavy few weeks of applying for jobs, starting rehearsals for my Summer show, and figuring out how I plan to stay on top of my theatre game while out of school for the upcoming academic year. ​​​​​​​

In a new interview, Tony-award-winning actor Alan Cumming briefly discussed the cancellation of Schmigadoon!, the popular musical television series, and the direction the series would have gone in for Season 3. According to Cumming, the next season would have been a parody of the mega-musicals of the 1980s and 1990s such as Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, and Les Misérables.

 The Virginia Theatre Festival has announced casting for its upcoming production of the hilarious and high-octane take on the classic Hitchcock whodunit The 39 Steps.  

According to new reports, Tony Winners Rachel Bay Jones and Danny Burstein will star alongside newcomer Ana Sharp in an independent film from Laura Somers called Rise and Shine. Based on a true story, the film follows Janice Steele and her daughter Terri who makes the transition from homeschool to public school. Janice, who was born with cerebral palsy and a developmental delay, inspires those around her in this new environment with her positivity.
