City Theatre, now in its 23rd season, is the only professional theater in the country that produces 10 minute plays and musicals in a variety of year-round programming. The City Theatre National Award for Short Playwriting Contest furthers the Company's mission to identify, acknowledge and award excellence in dramatic writing. City Theatre Artistic Director Margaret M. Ledford said, "This year's Winner and Finalists were selected from a fierce pool of over 800 talented writers from around the country. The plays are an exciting mix of dramatic storytelling, some of which are plays we are already producing, or we will be presenting as readings, that we will recommend to our arts partners, and otherwise promote to bring visibility to the writers and this uniquely theatrical and versatile genre."

Today, the Nederlander Organization and Hollywood Pantages Theatre announced the nominees for THE 7TH ANNUAL JERRY HERMAN AWARDS, a celebration of the achievement and excellence in high school musical theatre in Los Angeles.

Rooftop Films launched with a single screening of short films in 1997. The Canadian Opera Company welcomes American bass-baritone Christian Van Horn to the cast of this spring's production of Anna Bolena, making his role debut as Enrico VIII. Van Horn steps in for Eric Owens who, regrettably, has withdrawn due to health issues. Moldovan bass Oleg Tsibulko will sing the part of the Emperor in The Nightingale and Other Short Fables, while Canadian bass Michael Uloth now performs the role of The Bonze.

Selected plays will receive a staged reading performance in the festival on Monday July 16th (7:30 PM), directed by Pamela Berlin and Evan Yionoulis, performed by a company of some of New York's finest actors.

Three Humaramovie shorts, including Pallavi Joshi's debut short, PRESSURE COOKER by Heena D'souza, LIFT by Ida Ali, THE COT by Gaurav Bakshi, are nominated for the Jio Filmfare Short Film Awards 2018. This follows HumaraMovie winning the Filmfare with their short Khamakha , directed by Aarti Bagdi.

Director, Jeanmarie (Simpson) Bishop, is interviewing actors for a new short play to be performed at the Phoenix Art Museum on the 10th and 11th of February 2018.
