Banoffee Gears Up for Debut Album with Single 'Contagious'
by Abigail Charpentier - Feb 11, 2020

Banoffee is gearing up to release her debut album Look At Us Now Dad out next week on February 21st via Cascine and has today given fans one last exciting preview. The new song “Contagious” comes with another excellent video. Banoffee says: “The video is about loneliness and the feelings of ostracisation that arise when your issues seem too much for the world to handle. It follows a woman roaming the landscape in a wedding dress, totally prepared to give herself up to something, yet completely alone and isolated by her sadness. The circles in the clip represent a safety zone, something I created for myself when I felt like I had to hide what I was going through in order to seem fit for love or friendship. I wanted the video to evoke a sense of longing and eeriness, like everyone has gone home, fed up with the things I still need and crave…”

by Michael Dale - Feb 7, 2020

If the open hardcover copy of Thomas A. Harris, M.D.'s 1967 self-help bible 'I'm OK - You're OK' casually placed upon an ottoman makes you chuckle a bit as you settle down for The New Group's latest endeavor, you're of a proper mindset to enjoy Duncan Sheik (music/lyrics), Amanda Green (lyrics) and Jonathan Marc Sherman's sweet, funny and endearing new easy chamber musical BOB & CAROL & TED & ALICE.

BWW Review: Go on an emotional rollercoaster with THE HUCKSTERS at the Baxter
by Faeron Wheeler - Jan 26, 2020

Louis Viljoen's script is intense and in your face a?" and I like it. The characters are real, complex and decidedly messed up, and in some ways, pretty relatable. We all have dark thoughts and the desire to tell people exactly what is on our minds. This play just pushes things to the extreme.

Photo Flash: Take a Look at Photos From Open Book Theatre's FRANKIE AND JOHNNY Opening Tonight
by Chloe Rabinowitz - Jan 24, 2020

Warm up this winter with Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune (Jan 24- Feb 22, 2020) at Open Book Theatre Company. “The play is deceptively simple,” explained director Wendy Katz Hiller, “two middle-aged 'losers' have what could be a one-night-stand or, possibly, the start of a relationship. The tension between our wants and our fears, masks and vulnerabilities, alienation and connection are explored throughout one important night. But the playwright, Terrence McNally, doesn't let this fall into melodrama or pontification. The play is filled with funny, biting, ironic moments, as well as the sweet hope of the possibility of love.”

BWW Review: BOOM at Out Of Pocket Inc.
by Dan and Julie Izzo - Oct 28, 2019

'Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny.' Who would have thought Ernest Haeckel's famous and scientifically nerdy maxim would be central to the theme of one of the most performed plays of the early 21st century? But Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's BOOM embraces that theme and explodes it to cataclysmic comic proportions. BOOM is a combination of bedroom farce and locked door mystery. It is ironically a retrospective about 'the end of the world as we know it' (to quote R.E.M.), satirizing science, relationships and the blasé despondency of millennials.

BANOFFEE Announces Debut LP 'Look At Us Now Dad'
by Sarah Jae Leiber - Oct 23, 2019

Australian rising star Banoffee today announced her debut album Look At Us Now Dad will be released Friday, February 21st via Cascine and Dot Dash. To celebrate the album announce, Banoffee has shared her new single 'Tennis Fan' (feat. Empress Of), with a video directed by Quinn Whitney Wilson (Lizzo) and premiered via The FADER. Banoffee shares - 'Working with Lorely (Empress Of) and Quinn was such a pleasure and it turned into a daytime slumber party of sorts, with all ideas being welcome and nothing deemed too silly. I hope when people watch this clip they feel the good feelings we were all experiencing at the time. It's a song about rejecting the yuck stuff but it's just as much about celebrating the good stuff. I think this video does a great job of showing how strong friendships can make anything unkind feel unimportant and trivial.'
