The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin wants to try her hand at musical theater by making her Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated production of AFTER MIDNIGHT.

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, releases 'Duke Ellington: The Original Recordings That Inspired The Broadway Hit After Midnight' today, May 27th on iTunes (iTunes.com/DukeEllington) that other digital retailers. The CD version hits stores June 17th.

Musicians from the Jazz at Lincoln Center All-Stars band, currently in the 7-time Tony-nominated Broadway musical After Midnight, visited Duke Ellington's grave at Woodlawn cemetery, where a crowd gathered to honor his legacy on the 40th year anniversary of his death. They played MOOD INDIGO, and Mercedes Ellington (Duke's granddaughter) placed a wreath at the gravesite. They finished with a triumphant Ellington classic, TAKE THE A TRAIN.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, was presented earlier this week in Shubert Alley, between Broadway and 8th Avenue and 44th and 45th Streets. To add to the festivities leading up to the Tony Awards, the free outdoor concert in the heart of the Theatre District celebrated Broadway with star appearances and exciting performances from over 20 new shows and long-running favorites, accompanied by a live 12-piece orchestra. On Tuesday evening, 9-time Tony award winner Tommy Tune hosted a dinner for the musical After Midnight to celebrate their 7 Tony Award nominations at his home on the Upper East Side. Guests for the evening included Andre Leon Talley, Ruben and Isabel Toledo, Mercedes Ellington, William Ivey Long, Rick Miramontez, Jean Doumanian, David Rockwell, Warren Carlyle and After Midnight producer Scott Sanders. Fantasia Barrino returns to Broadway in the role she originated for a four-week engagement (5/13/14 - 6/8/14) leading up to the Tony Awards on June 9, 2014.

Ginny's Salon Series: After Midnight is set for Monday, May 19th at 8:00 PM at Marcus Samuelsson's acclaimed Ginny's Supper Club underneath Red Rooster Harlem.

Fantasia, After Midnight's original Grammy Award-winning 'Special Guest Star,' will reprise her critically acclaimed performance in the smash hit Broadway musical, tonight, May 13 through Sunday, June 8, 2014. After Midnight will donate $5 from each ticket sold for tonight's performance to the Harlem School of the Arts, now celebrating its 50th Anniversary.

Some of the talented students from Rosie's Theater Kids were invited to a performance of After Midnight currently starring Vanessa Williams and soon to welcome back Fantasia Barrino. The cast of After Midnight says farewell to their most recent guest star, Vanessa Williams. Williams' last performance is on Sunday, May 11 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 W. 47th Street). Set to replace Williams is The Color Purple's Fantasia Barrino.
