From page to stage to screen, the magic is real at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. Prepare to see the characters that you've known and loved in a thrilling new adventure that begins 19 years after the events of the final book- The Deathly Hallows.

The entirety of the Lyric Theatre has been transfigured to immerse you in this magical world where epic duels, extraordinary spells and beloved characters come to life. Filled with unprecedented stage magic and thrilling storytelling, this Tony Award-winning show, Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, is an extraordinary journey into the next chapter of Harry Potter’s life and proves that magic, friendship, and courage never go out of style.

What’s the show about? Set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the story follows Harry as an overworked Ministry of Magic employee and father to three children, including his youngest son, Albus. As Albus struggles under the weight of his family’s legacy, he and Harry confront dark forces that blur the boundaries of time and challenge everything they thought they knew about the past, present, and future.

Featuring jaw-dropping stagecraft, spellbinding illusions, and a deeply emotional story, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is more than a play—it’s an immersive journey into the wizarding world. Under the visionary direction of John Tiffany, the production weaves together thrilling action, heartfelt drama, and moments of pure magic that will leave your jaw on the floor.

The magic doesn’t stop on Broadway. The play has enchanted audiences around the globe, with acclaimed productions in London’s West End, Melbourne, Hamburg, Toronto, and Tokyo. Fans from all over the world have embraced this spellbinding story, and with touring productions underway, the magic of The Cursed Child continues to grow, bringing the wizarding world to more cities than ever before.

Debuting on Broadway on April 22, 2018, The Cursed Child originally unfolded as a two-part epic. When it reopened in 2021 following its Covid closure, it was restaged as one singular performance. In 2024 an even newer version of the play debuted on Broadway that condensed the story to be enjoyed in under three hours.

The play has garnered numerous awards, including six Tony Awards in 2018 (including Best Play), and continues to captivate audiences with its blend of nostalgia, innovation, and wonder.

Ready to return to Hogwarts? Whether you’re a lifelong Potterhead or a newcomer to the series, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child promises an unforgettable journey through a world of spells, secrets, and spectacular storytelling.

BWW Review: A Complete Neophyte's Guide To HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD
by Michael Dale - April 23, 2018
