Today we are talking to an Academy Award-winning producer all about his sensational career trajectory thus far as we look ahead to next week's LGBT awareness-raising charity event UPRISING OF LOVE, the talented Bruce Cohen. Discussing his friendship with noted composer and UPRISING OF LOVE co-producer Stephen Schwartz, Cohen details what audiences can expect from the star-studded evening of information and entertainment, scripted by none other than Cohen's Oscar-winning MILK collaborator Dustin Lance Black. Furthermore, Cohen outlines how he first became involved with the UPRISING OF LOVE movement at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Batman announced today that child actor Noah Marlowe (Mary Poppins, Act One) will play "Young Harvey Milk" in the New York premiere of Tony and Grammy Award nominee Andrew Lippa's new oratorio, I Am Harvey Milk, set for Monday, October 6 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. Mr. Marlowe originated the role in I Am Harvey Milk's world premiere performance in San Francisco and can be heard on the Original Cast Recording.

The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) announced Crescendo, the annual season preview event that kicks-off the 37th season, on Sunday, September 28, 2014, from 12 - 3 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel (757 Market Street, San Francisco). The Sunday brunch includes a preview of selections from the upcoming season, which will feature concerts that provide a musical journey that is equal parts festive, fearless and fabulous! "I Am Harvey Milk" is an emotional celebration of an American icon. Part choral work, part theater piece, it weaves the story of Harvey Milk's life -- from boyhood to his rise as the first openly gay man to hold public office in California and to his untimely assassination.

The original cast recording of Andrew Lippa's I Am Harvey Milk was just named by Music Resource Group (MRG) as the winner of Best Soundtrack/Cast Recording in The 13th Independent Music Awards (The IMAs), the influential awards program for independent music and fans. The Johnny Mercer Foundation and the American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University will present the 9th Annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project. The weeklong songwriting workshop for emerging songwriters and writing teams will take place from June 22 through 28, on Northwestern's Evanston campus.

The Heartland Men's Chorus unites with the St. Louis Gateway Men's Chorus to bring "I Am Harvey Milk," to the stage of the Folly Theatre in Kansas City, Mo. The celebration of the life of civil rights icon Harvey Milk takes the stage on March 29 and 30. Preceding the Kansas City performance, the choruses will present a free preview on March 8 at 7 p.m., at the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia, Mo. An encore performance will take the stage of the Washington University's 560 Music Center in St. Louis on April 5.

San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) Artistic Director, Dr. Timothy Seelig, announced that the original cast recording of I Am Harvey Milk, released this week, has already reached the #2 position on the iTunes classical music chart. The world premiere of the choral work, I Am Harvey Milk, concluded the Chorus's 35th anniversary season at Its Harvey Milk 2013 concert. The recording is the culmination of SFGMC's 35-year history, which began at the candlelight vigil for slain Supervisor Harvey Milk. With music and words by Tony and Grammy Award nominee Andrew Lippa (Big Fish, The Addams Family, The Wild Party), I Am Harvey Milk features Lippa as Harvey Milk, Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy, NBC's "Go On") as the Soprano Soloist and Noah Marlowe (Mary Poppins, Fun Home) as young Harvey, along with the 300 men of the Chorus.
