San Diego Opera's 2019-2020 main stage season comes to a close with Gioachino Rossini's classic comedy The Barber of Seville which opens on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the San Diego Civic Theatre for four performances.

Charles Gounod's opera Romeo & Juliet will open on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 7:30 pm. Set in 14th-century Verona, the deep love between Romeo and Juliet rivals the longstanding feud between their families, the Montagues and the Capulets.

Love is in the air on Saturday, February 8 at 7pm, when Sarasota Opera opens the 2020 Winter Opera Festival with Puccini's La bohème. The melodious love story follows a group of friends - starving artists and intellectuals - living a bohemian lifestyle in 1830's Paris. They struggle with poverty, but never let hardship bring them down. Along the way, Rodolfo and Mimì fall in love-and it doesn't get much more romantic than young love in Paris in the winter. San Diego Opera has announced addition to its 2019-2020 season with the Bel Canto Trio for one-night-only on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 7:30 PM at The Conrad Preby Performing Arts Center in the Baker-Baum Concert Hall (7600 Fay Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037). In 1947 Columbia Artist Management created The Bel Canto Trio, featuring tenor Mario Lanza, soprano Frances Yeend, and bass-baritone George London.

Seattle Opera has just unveiled its 2020/21 season-a year that highlights opera's rich past, and its bold, diverse future. Audiences will be treated to beloved classics Tosca and Don Giovanni, as well as a contemporary work Flight, inspired by the true story of stateless refugee Mehran Karimi Nasseri, who was stranded for 18 years and forced to live in the Charles de Gaulle airport. What: Houston Grand Opera and world-renowned tenor Lawrence Brownlee bring together international stars J'Nai Bridges, Nicole Heaston, Reginald Smith Jr., Russell Thomas, Nicholas Newton and Kevin Miller (piano) for a one-night only concert event. 'Giving Voice: Lawrence Brownlee and Friends Sing Opera, Gospel, and Standards' was created to celebrate Houston's diverse community and showcases the power of voice and song. The intimate evening was the brainchild of Brownlee and Houston Grand Opera is proud to support this initiative. During the concert, audiences will be treated to a program that ranges from opera classics, to spirituals, gospel, and standards. The panto runs from 29 November 2019 to 11 January 2020, with a press night on Tuesday 3 December 2019.

San Diego Opera's 2019-2020 season continues with a special one-night-only event on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 7:30 PM when soprano Ailyn Pérez and tenor Joshua Guerrero perform in concert at the Balboa Theatre. They will be accompanied by pianist Abdiel Vázquez. Ailyn Pérez is no stranger to San Diego Opera, having made her Company debut as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet in 2010, returning to sing Marguerite in Faust in 2011, and in recital in 2014. In demand at all the major opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, and Opéra National de Paris, Ms. Pérez is the winner of the 2012 Richard Tucker Award, the 15th annual Plácido Domingo Award, and the 14th annual Opera News Award. 

The Pleiades Project, in collaboration with Multi-Cultural Sonic Evolution, presents World of Miyabi: Japanese Woman in Song on November 21 at 8:00 p.m. as part of the 2019 Sound of Arts Festival.

Sarasota Opera has been awarded a $50,000 Arts Appreciation Grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The grant offers unrestricted funding to area arts organizations in support of their artistic mission. Following their critically acclaimed productions of Carmen, La Traviata and La boheme, the King's Head Theatre joins forces with acclaimed Welsh opera company Opera D'draig for a quirky, romantic and enchanting new take on Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, presented in English as The Elixir of Love. The production will run from 25 September to 26 October 2019, with a press night on Monday 30 September.
