The School of Ballet Arizona (SBAZ) and Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestras (PYSO) announce a unique partnership to perform Swan Lake at Desert Botanical Garden May 30, 31, and June 6, 2021. Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, and Barry Hughson, Executive Director, today announced the cancellation of the June season. The world premiere of Swan Lake, directed and staged by Ms. Kain, originally planned for June 5 to 21, 2020, will take place June 11 to 27, 2021.

Theatre at St. Luke's opens its 9th season with the classic comedic drama Steel Magnolias, by Robert Harling. Under the direction of Steve MacKinnon, the popular play turned iconic movie will be an immersive theatre-in-the-round experience. Audience members will step through the full-scale doors to Truvy's beauty parlor where they'll actually sit with the show's main characters, six southern women, navigating life together. Steel Magnolias opens March 6 at 7:00 p.m. and will run select dates through March 22. Tickets are $15-25 and are available at st.lukes.org/steelmagnolias.

As part of the 243rd season of the iconic ballet company, several productions by the Bolshoi Ballet are again being broadcast on cinema screens across sixty countries. As one of seven of these ballets, Swan Lake is surely the most iconic, having debuted at the Bolshoi theatre in 1877. Tchaikovsky's incredibly evocative score wasn't enough to secure initial success, but for many people today, Swan Lake is ballet.
