New Jersey Symphony Announces 2014-15 Season - CARMINA BURANA, Beethoven and More!

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) today announced its programs for the 2014-15 concert season, conductor Jacques Lacombe's fifth year as the Orchestra's Music Director. Fulfilling its mission as a statewide orchestra, the NJSO brings subscription programs to venues in Newark, New Brunswick, Princeton, Morristown, Red Bank and Englewood, with 14 weeks of subscription classical programs, four pops programs and three family concerts, as well as several special concerts.

The program features The Marie-Jose Kravis Composer-in-Residence Christopher Rouse's Rapture; former Composer-in-Residence Magnus Lindberg's Piano Concerto No. 2, with The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Yefim Bronfman as soloist; and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, tonight, January 2, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 3 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, January 7 at 7:30 p.m.

For the November 2013 Sweep, “This Week” drew 2.911 million Total Viewers and 787,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. The ABC public affairs program posted double-digit increases over the previous sweep (2.304 million and 641,000 for July 2013) in both Total Viewers (+26%) and Adults 25-54 (+23%). In fact, “This Week” drew its largest overall sweeps audience in nearly 5 years – since February 2009.

In this comic gem by the famed Texas playwright best known for The Night Hank Williams Died and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, four former presidents - Richard M. Nixon, Lyndon B. Johnson, Calvin Coolidge and Harry S. Truman- find themselves in an exclusive holding pen outside heaven awaiting the decision of an admissions committee. 'Just who is on that committee?' asks the recently arrived Nixon. 'That's the problem: a buncha narrow-minded damned saints!' Johnson replies. As the sanctified weigh the leaders' good deeds against their sins of omission and commission, 'Landslide Lyndon' and 'Tricky Dick' plot to get around the bureaucracy and go straight to the Boss.

Cameron Mackintosh Hands Out $2.9 Million in Settlement with Injured Delivery Man

According to the Daily News, theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh just handed over $2.9 million in a settlement with a FedEx delivery man that slipped and fell outside of his midtown offices. The 54 year-old was injured in November 2008, suffering 'a torn rotator cuff, ruptured quadriceps tendon and torn meniscus in his knee, as well as neck and back injuries.'
