Ardmore Initiative is pleased to welcome the newest addition to Ardmore's restaurant scene, Pala'a, a Latin American seafood restaurant. Cira Ferreira, Levi Hernandez, and Ivan Brcek's new BYO is located at 18 West Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore. Pala'a specializes in ceviches, tartares, chupe, arepas and patacone. Sides, housemade juices and desserts are also available. Reflecting the focus on seafood, the dining room is playfully and vibrantly decorated with graphics of azure Venezuelan beaches and brightly colored beach chairs. Order at the front counter and enjoy a cup of papelon, a refreshing lime drink, as you wait for your food. Pala'a is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every Tuesday through Sunday.

Audiences will be delighted by the antics of the inquisitive monkey George and his owner, the Man in the Yellow Hat, as they hit the stage with new friends, catchy music, and a whacky adventure. This musical is a first for Upper Darby Summer Stage and is guaranteed to be a hit among families with young children. Performances are August 2, 3, and 4 at 10:30 am and on August 3 at 7:30 pm at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film and Broadway musical, 'Shrek The Musical Jr.' brings our favorite green ogre Shrek, with his trusty steed Donkey, to Upper Darby Summer Stage. 'Shrek Jr.' features catchy, toe-tapping songs, intricate dance numbers, wacky fairytale creatures, and of course a dragon!

Villanova Theatre has announced the 11th Annual Philadelphia Theatre Research Symposium (PTRS), featuring a keynote address by renowned director Kwame Kwei-Armah and distinguished dramaturg Gavin Witt of Baltimore Center Stage, one of the leading regional theatres in the nation.

Villanova Theatre proudly presents a workshop production of The Gambler, written by Villanova University's Charles A. Heimbold Chair in Irish Studies and renowned playwright Owen McCafferty and directed by Philadelphia favorite David Bradley. In this provocative new piece, McCafferty brilliantly transforms Fyodor Dostoevsky's classic novella for the stage. Audiences will be transported by a whirlwind of love, gambling, and politics as our narrator spins the roulette wheel, inviting audiences to 'take a chance' on the unexpected. The Gambler is on stage April 26-30, 2017. 

This German play, written by Wolfgang Borchert, was written back in 1946 but it didn't get to the Israeli stages up until now. This fact might come as a surprise since it deals with an issue which is highly relevant to the Israeli audience: A soldier who's coming back from the war and finds out that he lost everything he had and every door is closed to him.

Villanova Theatre proudly presents Little Women: The Broadway Musical, book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and directed by Valerie Joyce. Based on Louisa May Alcott's American classic, this beloved Civil War story of love, family, and independence stands the test of time, coming to life at Villanova Theatre March 28 - April 9, 2017.

Valley Forge Casino Resort (1160 First Avenue) welcomes Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies to Valley Forge Music Fair on Saturday, April 22, 2017. The band is still together after nearly three decades, producing 14 studio albums which have collectively sold more than 14 million copies, won eight Juno Awards, earned multiple Grammy nominations, a U.S. chart-topping single ("One Week") and the theme song to one of TV's most popular shows, "The Big Bang Theory."  Doors open of The Event Center at 7:00pm and the show starts at 8:00pm. Ticket prices range from $40-$65 and are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com.

If you grew up as a lover of musical theater, especially in those dark years before BroadwayCon, it's likely that your high-school years were not among your best. Of course, high school can be hard for teenagers with other musical tastes, too. Amid growing public awareness of teenage violence, suicide, and depression, and with scientific studies confirming that the brains of teenagers are basically chaos machines, DEAR EVAN HANSEN has turned a spotlight on these issues, and audiences have responded warmly and gratefully. In the story, alienated teen Evan Hansen, who leads a lonely life with his hardworking single mother, has no real friends in high school; neither does another, still more troubled student, Connor Murphy, whose sister Zoe is the unwitting object of Evan's affections. When Connor commits suicide, a series of misunderstandings prompts Evan to pass himself off as Connor's best friend, an identity that gains him access to Connor's intact family, privileged lifestyle, and especially his lovely sister. This charade creates tensions and complications that lead, ultimately, to the truth.
