BWW Review: Three's Company in Garden Theatre's BOEING BOEING
by Matt Tamanini - Mar 31, 2015
There is a lot wrong with the central conceit of Marc Camoletti's farce BOEING BOEING, playing at the Garden Theatre through April 4th. Set in Paris in 1963, Bernard, an insatiable womanizer (likely with undiagnosed obsessive compulsive disorder) has figured out that the best way to reap the benefits of having three live-in fiancees without any of them knowing about each other is to only propose to flight attendants on conflicting schedules. From there, the jokes nearly write themselves as schedules change and weather delays departures. Directed by Keith Smith, the Garden Theatre's six-person cast bounces through the madcap comedy with an abundant joy, despite all of the outdated gender politics. BOEING BOEING, translated from the original French by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans, stands up well as a time-capsule from a different time with a different perspective, and if you can get past the show's uncomfortable premise, you are sure to enjoy its charming cast and taut direction.
BWW Reviews: The Hilarious '60s Romantic Farce BOEING BOEING is Perfectly Executed by Torch Theater
by Jill Schafer - Mar 20, 2015
BOEING BOEING is the perfect screwball comedy. Though this tale of an American playboy in Paris with three 'air hostess' fiances was a hit in France, the English translation flopped on Broadway in 1965. But the revival over 40 years later was a hit and spurred a flood of regional productions around the country. Fortunately for Twin Cities theater-goers, Torch Theater chose it as one of it's 2015 shows at the Minneapolis Theatre Garage. With a stellar cast, spot on direction, and a swinging '60s vibe created by set, costumes, and music, it's practically perfect in every way (to quote that other big show). I can't remember the last time I laughed so much at the theater!
Coronado Playhouse to Stage BOEING, BOEING

Boeing, Boeing is a bedroom farce originally written in French by Marc Camoletti in 1961 and quickly adapted onto the English-speaking stage. Boeing, Boeing takes off with the outrageous lifestyle of an American ex-patriot named Bernhard living in Paris. He is the ultimate ladies man dating three airline stewardesses in the early 1960's at the peak of the Golden Age of air travel. His affairs seem to be intermingling well until the Boeing company develops faster airplanes that lead to a romantic nightmare of crossed schedules, near misses in the bedroom and riotous consequences.
