Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced that Tony & Emmy Award winner LaChanze will star in the Broadway premiere of Trouble in Mind by Alice Childress, directed by Charles Randolph-Wright. LaChanze is a founding member of Black Theatre United; she returns to Broadway following A Christmas Carol (2019) and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical (2018), for which she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical.

If you're still nursing your blues over a lack of Broadway and cursing the coronavirus that took it from you, what better way to brighten up the celebration than with some theatrical flair?

Everyone loves a good ghost story. Usually, these stories have been reserved for around a campfire or Halloween. So why would someone tell a ghost story around the holidays? Iowa Stage is telling us this in their production, which opens today 'A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas.' While the tradition of 'A Christmas Carol' each year came from the Repertoire Theatre of Iowa, Iowa Stage is continuing the tradition. With the move to a new performance space this season, they have taken a chance on a new version of the story.

From December 11th-22nd, Theatre in the Park will be presenting their 45th anniversary production of A Christmas Carol. I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing the show's playwright, Ira David Wood III, who is not only back directing this year, but he'll also be alternating the role of Ebenezer Scrooge with his oldest son, Ira David Wood IV.

Miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is approached by the ghostly vision of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him of an upcoming spiritual journey. An eye opening exploration leads to happiness and enlightenment, not to mention song, dance, and holiday cheer.

Ford's Theatre Society announced that the company of the 2019 production of A Christmas Carol has selected D.C.'s Bright Beginnings as recipient of this year's donation drive inspired by the themes of charity in Dickens's holiday classic. During the curtain calls for performances, the company of A Christmas Carol will collect monetary donations on behalf of the Washington-based non-profit. Today, on World Kindness Day, The Old Vic announces a new partnership with a national literacy charity that works to provide high-quality one-to-one support to disadvantaged children. The Old Vic will work with Coram Beanstalk through staff volunteering, a potential reading scheme in the new Annex, and the charity will benefit from The Old Vic's bucket collections throughout A Christmas Carol 2019.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 2019/20 season with a beloved holiday tradition, Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL. This year's production is an adaptation by Geoff Elliott with direction from KCRep Associate Artistic Director Jason Chanos. A CHRISTMAS CAROL begins previews Friday, November 22, opens Saturday, November 30 at 8 pm, and continues through Sunday, December 29. Performances take place at Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus.

Goodspeed Musicals' holiday hit A Connecticut Christmas Carol returns for a third year to The Terris Theatre, December 4 - 28, and it could be your chance to join a professional acting company! Goodspeed will be holding auditions for local Non-Equity child actors between ages 7-10 for its upcoming production of A Connecticut Christmas Carol. Auditions will be held on Sunday, July 28 from 12:00p.m. - 3:00p.m. at the Alice Hammerstein Mathias Rehearsal Studio in East Haddam, Conn.
