Join the Underground Theater for our debut production, featuring the world premiere of A CRIS ELI BLAK play "Brown Bodies on a Blue Earth," directed by Brodrick Ryans. CRIS ELI BLAK, is an emerging and proud Black playwright with a repertoire showcased across diverse stages worldwide, including Off-Broadway, regional venues across the country, university platforms, as well as in London, Australia, Ireland, and Canada.
About the Play:
The story navigates the lives of five individuals in a distant (or not-so-distant) future where the sun dangerously approaches Earth. The affluent, mostly white population evacuates to the moon, leaving the poor, mostly minority population to face the increasing heat and dwindling chances of survival. The play delves into regret, loss, dreams, personal traumas, and resilience in the face of adversity.
The Underground Theater's production of "Brown Bodies on a Blue Earth" stars Donovan Mahannah as Reed, Rachel Nellie as Clover, Eugenia "Snow" Pierce as DeeJay Flo-Sister, Jeffrey Cheatham II as Simeon, Kaughlin Caver as Zachariah, and Lakia Solomon as understudy.
