She wrote the perfect love story, one letter at a time. An adaptation of the 1912 novel of the same name by Jean Webster, Daddy Long Legs is the latest of many stage and film adaptations, and the most true to the original work. Written in 2007 with music and lyrics by Paul Gordon and book by John Caird, Daddy Long Legs is a two person epistolary musical about a young orphan girl and her mysterious benefactor who empowers her through providing her with a college education. KCPT is opening the first west coast production of Daddy Long Legs since the closing of its successful off Broadway run in 2016.
Daddy Long Legs stars Vince Wingerter, a Tacoma native who toured with the national production of Mamma Mia!, as Jervis, and Port Townsend native Christa Holbrook, last seen as the mysterious narrator in 2017’s Kitsap Sun Best Musical Award winner, Murder Ballad, as Jerusha. KCPT Artistic Apprentice Brendan Chambers directs the show, with choreography by Denise Winter, and Musical Direction by Linda Dowdell.
Daddy Long Legs is sponsored by KPTZ 91.9FM, Radio Port Townsend, and the 66 Women Producers, to become a 66 Women Producer, please contact the theater. KCPT’s Season Sponsors are Aldrich’s Market, Alchemy Bistro & Wine Bar, SOS Printing, and Edensaw Woods.
