Vox Fabuli Puppets' MANOS DVD Kickstarter Reaches $10,000 Goal

Vox Fabuli Puppets' Kickstarter for MANOS - The Hands of Felt has successfully reached its goal of $10,000 with several days left before the campaign ends.

MANOS - The Hands of Felt is a giddy puppet musical re-imagining of the cult classic Manos: The Hands of Fate. It debuted in Seattle in 2011. The Kickstarter money will fund filming during the 2013 remount and DVD production.

The campaign received a huge bump at the beginning of its final week when celebrity Wil Wheaton shared it on his tumblr and FaceBook page. The $2,300 needed to reach the funding goal was pledged within 13 hours.

"We are completely over the moon about this," said MANOS writer/producer Rachel Jackson. "The fact that people from all over the world love MANOS enough that they made this happen is just awesome. The support is mind blowing, in the best possible way."

Backer rewards started at just $5 for a digital download of the finished project. "We wanted to keep it accessible," said Jackson. For a $30 pledge, a backer gets a DVD ofMANOS - The Hands of Felt. Higher backer levels feature a variety of other perks, including invitations to the wrap party, replica puppets from the show, or dinner with Jackey Raye Neyman Jones, "Debbie" from the original movie.

Funding above the original $10,000 goal will go towards producing bonus material for the DVD. Stretch goals include an audio commentary track, behind-the-scenes footage and a MANOS music video.

The remount will take place August 9-17 at Richard Hugo House. Pressing Pictures LLC will be in charge of the DVD production, filming during the second weekend and at the wrap party.

Despite the presence of puppets, the DVD is not recommended for viewers under the age of 14. (adult language, bizarre sexual situations)
