Theatre22 presents the Seattle Premiere of "Questions of the Heart: Gay Mormons and the Search for Identity" by Ben Abbott, directed by Mark Kamie. For two nights only - August 18 and 19, 2014.

When Ben-a straight, faithful Mormon-finds himself caught in the middle of the rancorous California Proposition 8 campaign, he is unwilling to distance himself from either his religious community or his many close gay friends. Near desperation, he hopes to find some guidance by interviewing a wide range of fellow Mormons who also happen to be gay.

Based on actual interviews conducted by the playwright, Questions of the Heart follows Ben (who plays both interviewer and subjects) as he struggles to make sense of their surprising and conflicting experiences while also trying to reconcile them with his own faith.

Show length: 75 mins with optional Post Show Discussion. Performances take place at the Tyee Yacht Club, 3229 Fairview Ave E., Seattle WA 98102 on Monday, August 18 at 7:30pm and Tuesday, August 19 at 7:30pm. Cash bar opens at 6:30 p.m. Prices: $22 General Admission; $11 TPS/Senior/Student/Military/LDS. Tickets Available HERE or at www.theatre22.org.

The original version of Questions premiered at UC Berkeley as Ben's honors thesis. Since then it has evolved and performed at the Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and FRIGID New York fringe festivals. It won the "Producers' Pick of the Fringe" award at Cincy Fringe, the "Socia Commentary" award at FRIGID New York, and has had numerous special engagements in theaters, coffee shops, bars, churches, and more around the country.
