Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) has announced R. Hamilton Wright as the 2012 recipient of the Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award. The committee of prior recipients has selected Mr. Wright, choosing to honor his dedication to the Seattle theatre community. This award along with 14 others will be presented at the 4th Annual Gregory Awards being held at A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 7:30pm.
In addition to the new categories Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress, a third new award, Outstanding Teen Critic, will be presented. Established in collaboration with TeenTix, an arts access and engagement program for teen audiences, the Outstanding Teen Critic award will honor an excellent contribution to local theatre criticism by a member of the TeenTix Press Corps. Submissions drawn from the TeenTix blog (teentix.blogspot.com) have been reviewed and judged by a panel of area arts critics: Laura Dannen (Seattle Met), Leah Baltus (CityArts), Omar Willey (Seattle Star), Brendan Kiley (The Stranger), and youth representative Tucker Cholvin, a former Teen Press Corps member and current sophomore at Georgetown University. TPS is excited to further the mission of engaging young people in our regional theatre and arts opportunities.

The community nominated unsung heroes through short essays, followed by a unanimous vote to complete the process. Seattle’s Mayor McGinn will be presenting this award, marking his first appearance at the Gregory Awards.
Tickets for the awards ceremony are ON SALE NOW to the public through the ACT box office. TPS has received generous support for this event from ACT and a consortium of other theatres. (For a full list of supporting theatres and regional businesses; please see www.gregoryawards.org.)
