Forward Flux Productions is kicking off their inaugural 2015 season in Seattle (after moving here from NYC) by presenting a very special Open Invite edition of The Flux Salon. It will feature a reading of Out of Time, the new play by recent Gregory Award and Seattle Times Footlight Award winner Rachel Atkins (Black Like Us). Rachel will be joining us in person for an intimate conversation about this new work.
In addition to the play reading, there will be live performances by Shontina Vernon + Band, beat-box artist Zeke Keeble, a sound installation from collaborate:create resident artist Seth Caplan, visual art from Deanne Belinoff and more. The Flux Salon will be hosted by Hommage in Queen Anne, a French restaurant set along the Lake WA Ship Canal, featuring a menu driven by the changing seasons as well as Chef Nico Borzee's life experiences.
The Flux Salon was started in 2014, and this will mark the third and final Salon in a series highlighting new pieces from female playwrights around the country.
About Out of Time: Three different pairs of women (played by Yesenia Iglesias, Pilar O'Connell, and Leslie Wisdom) are linked by tragedy through time. 3 actors play 6 characters all struggling to make a connection while facing disaster and its aftermath. Out of Time is a beautiful new play about life and death, choices and consequences, chance, hope, loss and survival.
The Flux Salon is a secret arts gathering featuring new play readings, performances, and conversation in intimate spaces throughout Seattle. You never know where the next Salon will be held. Past venues have included restaurants, wine bars, private living rooms, houseboats, and basements. The series started in January, 2014, and is produced by Forward Flux Productions.
