Taproot Theatre Announces Acting 101 Class

You're never too old to learn to act. Adults who have always wanted to try acting can explore the craft in a fun, no pressure environment in Acting 101, a brand-new class from Taproot Theatre's Acting Studio. Beginning actors will learn the building blocks of acting through theatre games and scene work. Acting 101 takes place on Tuesdays from April 5 through May 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m. (no class on April 19). The class location will be announced soon.

Acting 101 is part of the Acting Studio's spring quarter, which features classes for kids and adults of all ages and experience levels. Classes run March 10 through May 17. Registration is open now. Youth Classes

Drama with Your Mama
Come experience the class everyone's talking about! Drama with Your Mama pairs toddlers and their parents or caregivers in an engaging and enriching class designed to activate and encourage children's imaginations while helping them bond with their caregivers. Incorporating drama games, music, storytelling and creative play, this class nurtures children's social, physical and vocal awareness and teaches them to work with others. Parents and caregivers will learn to cultivate their children's creativity with fun, exciting games and activities they can also incorporate into playtime at home. Dramatic Adventures
Acting is a tall order, with many skills required to create believable characters and situations, but this class breaks it all down for young actors, helping them learn each of the components of acting-words, emotions, thoughts, expressions and movement-in a fun and exciting way. With sessions for various age groups, ranging from Pre-K through third grade, each session is designed with lessons specifically targeted for your child's age. Children will be encouraged to use their imaginations as they work together to create their own play, which they'll perform for friends and family during the final class.

Scene Study
Young actors who wish to deepen their understanding of the craft of acting will bring their performance to new heights in this scene study class taught by an accomplished teaching artist. This class will guide students through the scene study process as they explore character, subtext, relationship and environment. Students will explore a variety of genres and stretch their range of emotions and characterization.
Grades: 4th-12th

Spring Break Camps
Send your child or young teen on a weeklong adventure they'll never forget as they explore the world of acting in our Spring Break Day Camps. Their journey begins the moment they step inside the classroom doors, taking them on a well-rounded tour through a variety of skills and genres. Each age-based session is packed with exercises, drama games and activities designed to build students' skills and encourage their creativity. Students share their adventures with family and friends during a performance on the final day of camp.

Adult Scene Study
The road to mastering your acting skills is paved with practice, practice, practice, so make every opportunity count. Polish your existing skills while learning new ones in this challenging class for adult actors who wish to deepen their understanding of the craft of acting. Using scene work and a variety of genres, we will explore character, subtext, relationship, and environment as we intensify our exploration of the actor's process.
