Tacoma Musical Playhouse is proud to produce the Tacoma Children's Musical Theater (TCMT) ... offering musical theater versions of classic children's literature for family audiences. These colorful and lively productions bring to the stage some of our most adored literary characters, performed by many of your favorite TMP mainstage actors. Recent productions of ALICE IN WONDERLAND, PINOCCHIO, BUNNICULA, HEIDI, and JUNIE B JONES have created the perfect incentive to plan a "family date" and enjoy a trip to the theater. The TCMT 2009-2010 season comes to a close this June with a stage version of Sergei Prokofiev's musical tale, PETER AND THE WOLF.

Premiered by Seattle Children's Theatre in 2006, this is the musical story of young Peter and his animal friends who venture out into the unknown, against his grandfather's wishes, to catch the dastardly wolf. Directed by TMP's Maria Valenzuela, this production features a lively ensemble of adult performers and the accompaniment of live orchestral instruments conducted by Bellarmine Prep's Frank Lewis. This husband-and-wife pair is the same artistic team behind the staging of another TCMT success story, PINOCCHIO.

The production runs June 12-20, 2010. Performances are Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm. All seating is assigned and advanced purchase is strongly recommended. TCMT shows often sell out in advance. TMP is also offering one mid-week matinee performance for school groups at 10:30 am on June 15th. These fill up quickly, so groups are encouraged to reserve as early as possible. All performances will take place at Tacoma Musical Playhouse, 7116 6th Ave. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for students, seniors and military, and $10 for children 12 and younger. Group rates are available. For tickets or more information, please visit www.tmp.org or call the TMP Box Office at 253-565-6867. This production is suitable for all ages.
