Tacoma Musical Playhouse, in collaboration with Studio 6 Ballroom, is proud to present the 2nd Annual Dancing With The Tacoma Stars - an exciting fundraising event for Tacoma Musical Playhouse - on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 5:30-9:30 pm. TMP and Studio 6 Ballroom come together again to present our own version of the popular TV show - but with prominent Tacomans and professional Ballroom instructors competing for top honors! The event includes dinner, dessert and the competition viewing. This year's featured "Stars" include:
Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland
The News Tribune Sportswriter John McGrath
NBA Hall of Famer James Donaldson
Attorney Ed McGuire
Tacoma Arts Commissioners Jana Wennstrom and Sarah Idstrom
Downtown Merchants Association Patricia Lecy-Davis
These seven prominent members of the local community have been practicing for months to compete for the titles of Best Male Star, Best Female Star and the People's Choice Award. The event will also feature last year's participants Emily West of the Business Examiner (last year's Best Female Star) and Steve Smith of the University of Puget Sound as your hosts for the evening. Our panel of judges include Mayor Doug Richardson of Lakewood (last year's Best Male Star), previous participant Rachael Costner of SandsCostner Marketing and Professional Ballroom Judge Lynn Offutt. Funds raised by the sale of votes for the People's Choice Award ($1 per vote) will benefit TMP's many education and community programs.
This fun-filled event will be held again this year at Tacoma's Landmark Convention Center in the beautiful Temple Theater Ballroom at 47 St. Helens Avenue. Tickets for dinner, dessert and show may be purchase for $100 each (VIP Floor Seating) or $75 each (First and Second Tier). Loge seating for the show only (no dinner) is available for $35 per ticket. Tickets are only available through Tacoma Musical Playhouse by calling the TMP Box Office at 253-565-6867 or visiting www.tmp.org. Reservations are required by November 1, 2010. All proceeds support TMP's many programs.
