THE LADIES OF THE CORRIDOR Hosts Benefit For Team Survivor NW

The Equity Members that brought you Last Summer at Bluefish Cove and Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, which played to sold-out houses, present The Ladies of the Corridor by Dorothy Parker & Arnaud d'Usseau. Opening May 6th and running through May 22nd.

One of Literature's leading humorists and founding member of the legendary Algonquin Round Table, Dorothy Parker drew from the dark side of her imagination to pen The Ladies of the Corridor, a searing drama about women living on their own in a New York residence hotel. Loosely based on her life, and co-written with famed Hollywood playwright Arnaud d'Usseau, The Ladies of the Corridor exposed the limitations of a woman's life in a drama teeming with Parker's signature wit. Written in 1953, the story centers on idle, middle-class widows and divorcees learning to be alone. They fill their hours with gossip, movies, and restorative naps. Enter recently widowed, Lulu Ames who hopes to make up for years lost in a suffocating marriage. Determined to not become trapped like the others, she begins a sensational affair with a younger man. The original Broadway production was directed by Harold Clurman and starred newcomer, Walter Matthau.

This Equity Members' Project Code production is directed by Karen Kinch and stars many of Seattle's top professional actors. The show was made possible by a generous grant from Woman Seeking... a theatre company and features Actors Equity Members: Beth Andrisevic Laurie Bialik, Lisa Carswell, Maureen Hawkins, Ruth McRee, Eleanor Moseley, Christine Mosere, Norman Newkirk, Eric Newman, Kate Szyperski and Sonia Perez; as well as fellow actors Jaryl Draper, Brandon Felker, Deborah King, Noah Luce and Daniel Wood. Playing for a limited three-week engagement at the Richard Hugo House (1634 11th Ave., Seattle, WA 98122).

Performances begin on May 6th at 7pm with an opening night benefit performance for Team Survivor NW, a nonprofit organization that provides a broad range of fitness and health education programs to enable women cancer survivors, in any stage of treatment or recovery and at any fitness level, to take an active role in their ongoing physical and emotional healing.

Performance schedule: Tuesdays, Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm from May 6th to May 21st and closing with a Sunday 2pm matinee on May 22nd.

Woman Seeking...a theatre company believes women are underrepresented on the stage. With that in mind, their mission is to increase representation of women on the stage, while breaking stereotyping in casting.
