Sound Theatre Company has announced its 2014 season of plays, to run from May 28 to September 27. Artistic Director Teresa Thuman has chosen three Seattle premieres that examine The Language of Love and Hate. Each play explores how we express, fail to express, or inhibit expression of these most fundamental human emotions, and the consequences of each.

When dynamo Emily is overcome by a mysterious illness that slowly strips her of each of her senses - smell, taste, hearing, sight - she and longtime husband John must rebalance their relationship and confront some long-buried truths. A Small Fire is a story of love, loyalty and the complexity of enduring bonds.

Seattle Premiere
Tony Award-nominated David Ives' (Venus in Fur) saucy update of Molière's The Misanthrope stuffs contemporary off-color slang into the classic baroque farce, in which rivals scheme romance to expose a notorious cynic. Misbehavior, gossip, glamour and scandal reign in this clowning burlesque written in rhymed couplets.
Blood Relations
by Sharon Pollock
September 11 - 27
Performed at the Cornish Playhouse Studio at Seattle Center, 305 Harrison Street
Directed by Gianni Truzzi
Seattle Premiere, Canadian Governor General's Award

Ten years after her acquittal, Lizzie is pressed by her lover to reveal what happened. Lizzie has her re-enact the events in her place, facing the same choices with startling results.
