Sound Theatre Company is proud to present the YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, the first play of Sound Theatre's 2018 Season, THE HUMAN FAMILY: Toward A Radical Inclusion. In 2018, we challenge our audiences to consider how we define family, what members of the human family we include, and whose stories we choose to tell.
This story about following your bliss, reveals a New York family of individualists, eccentrics and free-spirits coexisting together under one roof. Under the gentle radicalism of Grandpa, all are encouraged to remember that, "Life is kind of beautiful if you let it come to you..." Inclusive casting and the "chosen family" will be the centerpiece of this classic 1930's comedy about a family living "to the beat of a different drum". Tee Dennard ('15 Jesus Moonwalks the Mississippi), a founding member of Seattle's Group Theatre, and Shermona Mitchell ('16 The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, '15 Jesus Moonwalks) lead this large ensemble cast as Grandpa and his novelist daughter, Penny Sycamore. Appropriate for all audiences.
YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU features a diverse cast of local Seattle actors including: Geb Brown, Alysha Curry, Tee Dennard, Aaron Jin, Laurie Lynch, Neve Mazique, Bo Mellinger, Shermona Mitchell, Chris Shea, Gurvinder Singh, Corey Spruill, Laura Steele, Ayo Tushinde, and Bob Williams
