Sound Theatre Company Nominated for 7 Gregory Awards, Including Theatre of the Year

Despite a budget that is literally millions of dollars less than Seattle's oldest and most established theater's, Seattle's Sound Theatre Company is nominated for 7 awards in 7 categories. Not only is Sound Theatre Company looking to win a plethora of honors on October 24th but this relatively small organization has already garnered 4 People's Choice Awards as voted on by the region's theatre-going public. The Gregory Awards hosted by Theatre Puget Sound is the regionest largest honorarium of excellence in the field of Live Theatre.

Sound Theatre Company presents highly theatrcial work inspired by language and music while showcasing professional and emerging talent in the Seattle area.

SOUND THEATRE COMPANY is led by:

Producing Artistic Director - Teresa Thuman

Artistic Director Teresa Thuman launched Sound Theatre Company in 2006 with the site-specific production of The Tempest performed in the water and on the shore of Lake Sammamish, WA. Teresa previously acted in the dual capacity of Director/Producer for Dead Woman Home, which performed in Seattle, New York City, San Francisco and the Philipines. Directing credits include the recent critically acclaimed Fiddler on the Roof (CLO) and Urinetown (BPA). Other Seattle credits include The Book of Nathan (Theater Schmeater); Anything Goes, High Society, My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra (CLO);Kiss Me, Kate, Little Shop of Horrors for Bainbridge Performing Arts; Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Tartuffe and Oliver! for Driftwood Players;Pericles for Cornish and numerous new-work projects for the Mae West Fest, Fringe Festival, Theatre4Play Festival, Midtown International Theatre Festival, TPS Beyond the Frame, Theatre Babylon and the Experimental Theatre Project. Other directing credits include Dancing at Lughnasa, Henry V, Woyzeck, Damien, True West, As You Like It, Prelude to a Kiss, The Loman Family Picnic, Yours Anne and On the Verge (or the Geography of Yearning). At the Oregon Shakespeare Festival she served as Assistant Director for The Merchant of Venice and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Teresa has taught at UW School of Drama PATP, Cornish College, Freehold ETI and served eight years as an Artist-in-Residence at PCPA Theatrefest in California, where she taught in the Conservatory and acted in over 30 productions.
