ACT - A Contemporary Theatre announces that Sir Alan Ayckbourn has selected an entirely local cast for the American premiere of his play Sugar Daddies at ACT this October. One of the most successful playwrights in modern theatre and a British National Treasure, Ayckbourn is also an accomplished director, most notably of his own plays. Ayckbourn received the 2010 Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement and has directed scores of plays at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough. With 77 full length plays to his credit, Ayckbourn is widely known as the world's most performed living playwright. This will be a unique chance for American audiences to see his work as a director and a special honor for ACT audiences, who have seen ten of his plays produced at ACT since 1976.

A special interview event will take place at ACT on September 23, between Seattle theatre luminary R. Hamilton Wright and Sir Ayckbourn.

Sugar Daddies is a "comedy of dark intentions" about a naïve student who rescues an old man dressed as Father Christmas from a hit-and-run driver and brings him back to the London flat she shares with her sister. He showers her with generosity and they embark on a dangerously Faustian game of fantasy. The cast of characters play roles in which no one is quite who they seem and no good deed goes entirely unpunished.
