She's a Hollywood icon - an academy award winning dancer, singer and actress with over 50 films to her credit. She is also one of the most outspoken stars in an industry where speaking your mind is not for the faint-of-heart, and controversy is front page fodder for celebrity hungry tabloids. Yet, at age 75, she's as feisty and fabulous as ever, and still committed to boldly speaking her truth, unedited and uncensored.

Although her much-publicized interest in spirituality has played out in the tabloids and made her a popular target for new-age naysayers, she remains undaunted, continuing to examine everything from transchanneling to reincarnation (her interest in past lives is unmatched, earning the title of "metaphysical time traveler") to UFOs. In the midst of it all, she has maintained her sense of humor. At a booksellers' convention many years ago, she was purported to have announced that, despite speculation to the contrary, "I was not beamed down from the Starship Enterprise."

Shirley MacLaine says that her first book in the spiritual genre, Out on a Limb, was "the written expression of a spiritual odyssey that took me further than I ever intended to go, into an astonishing and moving world of psychic phenomena where past lives, the existence of spirit guides, and the genuine immortality of the soul became more than concepts to me-they became real, true parts of my life."

Over the years, she has documented her personal spiritual quest in follow-up best-sellers including Dancing in the Light, It's All in the Playing, Going Within and The Camino.
Her latest release, Sage-ing While Age-ing is the most recent installment in the Shirley MacLaine "unplugged" legacy, a powerful inquiry into what it means to grow beyond the physical into wisdom.

"An Evening with Shirley MacLaine" is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the big questions like, What is consciousness? What is the purpose of our lives? Are we alone in the universe? What happens to us after death? with a woman who isn't afraid of the answers.

Join Shirley MacLaine on Sunday, June 13, 7 pm at the Benaroya Hall, 200 University Street, Seattle, WA. Tickets are $50-$85 and can be purchased through the Benaroya Hall Box office at 206-215-4747.

The Extraordinary People series is being brought to Seattle by BellaSpark Productions, founded and owned by Donna Visocky. "Our mission," she says, "is to empower small groups of individuals in their growing personal awareness, and ignite a chain reaction of positive awareness that spreads throughout the community and beyond."
