Seattle Rep Offers An Intimate Evening with Annette Bening

Tickets are now on sale for An Intimate Evening with Annette Bening, in conversation with KUOW's Marcie Sillman, a one-night-only benefit to raise funds for Seattle Repertory Theatre's education programs. The evening will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 8:00 pm at the Bagley Wright Theatre. Tickets are available by calling the Seattle Rep Box Office at 206-443-2222 or online at www.seattlerep.org.

An award-winning stage actress, Annette Bening has also spent much of her time in front of the movie camera. Bening starred in the Mike Nichols' directed comedy What Planet Are You From? with Garry Shandling. She also starred in the critically acclaimed film American Beauty, for which she received both an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress, and she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance. She was last seen as 'Julia Lambert' in Being Julia for which she received a Best Actress Oscar nomination, and was named the National Board of Review's Best Actress, won the Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, and received a SAG nomination for Best Actress for her performance as well. Her other film credits include The Siege opposite Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis, Love Affair with Warren Beatty, Bugsy, also opposite Beatty, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress, Regarding Henry with Harrison Ford, and Guilty by Suspicion, opposite Robert DeNiro. Bening, who recently finished filming Running With Scissors, just completed a run on stage in the Anton Chekhov play The Cherry Orchard at the Mark Taper Forum.

All proceeds from An Intimate Evening with Annette Bening support Seattle Rep's education and outreach efforts for young people. For more than 20 years, Seattle Rep has offered a wide variety of educational programs throughout the community. Through its arts education programs, Seattle Rep serves over 60 schools, which might not otherwise have access to theatre. Seattle Rep offers in-school artist residencies, provides subsidized tickets, and encourages young people to express themselves through its TeenSpeak programs. Seattle Rep also provides resources to public school teachers through workshops and seminars. Community support and subsidy are vital to ensure the continued success of these important programs.
