The Victorian Hotel was originally optioned by Henson Studios from Angus Oblong, playwright, when they were looking for an adult show. Henson Studio's decision at the end of the day was between The Victorian Hotel and the show Crank-Yankers. Henson Studios ultimately chose the latter. The Victorian Hotel was quickly reworked as play a presented in California in 2006 by The Rogue Artists Ensemble, in association with The Powerhouse Theatre Company.
This production is the Seattle premiere of The Victorian Hotel by Angus Oblong and is a Senior BFA Project for John Tyndall (Director/Co-Producer) and Becca Pauza (Co-Producer) of the Cornish College of the Arts Performance Production Department.
The show has been a medley of collaboration between students from different departments, industry professionals and the playwright. Angus Oblong has worked alongside the Director to mold the script, and the creative team to add that Oblong Flurish to bringing this haunting and beautiful comedy to life.
The artists that made this possible are actors and designers that come from the Cornish Departments of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Production. The whole team has had the pleasure of working with professionals in puppeteering, acting and designers from outside their Cornish network.
John and Becca have stretched their skills and knowledge as they learned how to make art with a limited budget, interpersonal communication, and sharing. They learned that sharing means more than designs. It means thoughts, concerns, hopes, fears and who they are as people. The Victorian Hotel isn't just a place to stay for the night. It's been our home for over a year where we have worked together to make art.
We would love to see you check in at The Victorian Hotel between February 14th and 17th, 2018. Be warned, you may never check out.
